Abstract: An image display device of this invention includes a pre-charging voltage stabilizing section having current controlling means and charge holding means which respectively include a resistor and a capacitor to stabilize a pre-charging voltage. The charge holding means holds a voltage to be supplied to data signal lines, and the current controlling means suppresses a current flow from a control signal generating circuit, thereby suppressing power fluctuation at the control signal generating circuit. This suppresses fluctuation in the pre-charging voltage and enables data signal lines to be charged to a predetermined voltage, thereby suppressing deterioration of image quality and an increase in power consumption of the image display device.

Abstract: It relates to a method of manufacturing an electron source. In an activation process, a set value of an activation gas partial pressure is switched at multi-stages and an application of a compensation voltage is not conducted for a predetermined period after switching of the set value. Alternatively, the activation is repeated plural times while a row wiring or a column wiring is switched, and the application of the compensation voltage is not conducted for the predetermined period after switching of the row wiring or the column wiring. Thus, activation processing can be uniformly performed for all electron emitting devices.

Abstract: One image is displayed in a period as one frame, which includes one charge accumulation period and one light emission period. In the charge accumulation period, all electron emitters are scanned, and voltages depending on the luminance levels of corresponding pixels are applied to the electron emitters which correspond to pixels to be turned on (to emit light), to accumulate charges (electrons) in amounts depending on the luminance levels of corresponding pixels in the electron emitters which correspond to pixels to be turned on. In the next light emission period, a constant voltage is applied to all the electron emitters to emit electrons in amounts depending on the luminance levels of corresponding pixels from the electron emitters which correspond to pixels to be turned on, thereby emitting light from the pixels to be turned on.

The HVDD bus line is superimposed on the H scanner, the VSS bus line on the HSW circuit and the V scanner, the pre-charge data bus line on the PSW circuit, and the VVDD bus line on the V scanner. This increases the flexibility of the disposition of the bus lines for supplying the source voltages to the peripheral driving circuit, leading to the reduction of the framing area.
