  • Patent number: 10408431
Abstract: A light fixture that may include a dome member including exterior and interior surfaces, and a panel positioned adjacent to (e.g., attached to) the interior surface of the dome member. The panel may comprise carbon (e.g., carbon fiber, providing relatively high thermal conductivity). The panel may provide a mounting surface to which circuit boards including one or more LEDs are mountable. For example, the panel may include raised portions and recessed portions. The raised portions may provide a mounting surface to which the circuit board(s) may be mounted. The circuit board may span the distance between adjacent raised portions of the panel, spanning a corresponding recess. Such a recess may provide for a gap (e.g., an air gap) on the underside of the circuit board, for improved air circulation (facilitating convection cooling). Such a gap may also facilitate easy electrical connection of electrical power to each circuit board.

  • Patent number: 9179520
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the current limitation of a load current, in particular the load current of a flash means. In one step, first a supply voltage (VBAT) is provided. Then a load current (I) is set depending on the supply voltage (VBAT) for supplying the flash means (LED) with power by incrementally reducing the load current (I) until the supply voltage (VBAT) is greater than a threshold value (Vlow). The load current intensity (Imin) of the set load current (I) can be stored in a register (RAM) for the subsequent triggering of the flash means (LED) in a main flash phase (2) with the load current intensity (Imin) stored in the register (RAM). In addition, the invention relates to a circuit having current limitation of a load current of a flash means.

  • Patent number: 8502452
Abstract: A light source system and method that generates stable optical power over time and temperature for use in laser scanning, turbidity sensing, airborne-particle analysis, fog and visibility monitoring, blood-gas analysis and applications where light source output intensity changes less than one-half percent over a 50° C. range. The system includes a miniature semiconductor light emitter that can be powered by two AAA alkaline batteries for more than 100 hours and is about 1 cm3 in size (TO-5 package). A semiconductor light emitter emits a beam of linearly polarized light through a coated optical element having first and second surfaces that meet at an acute angle, the first surface reflecting a portion of the light to a control system and transmitting the rest through the second surface in a direction normal to it and thereby enabling immunity to light interference in the reflected and transmitted beams and novel, error-canceling properties.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a barricade light control switch apparatus for operating a battery powered barricade light unit. The apparatus comprises a light unit housing, light source, battery, and circuit means for controlling operation of the light source, and a reed switch. A magnet retained by a magnet carrier is positionable in either of two positions and controls operation of the reed switch. When the magnet carrier is in a first position the magnet is positioned in proximity to and closes the reed switch. When the magnet carrier is in a second position the magnet is positioned away from and opens the reed switch. Retention means preclude unintended movement of the magnet carrier. A method for controlling a barricade light unit is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention is a sound light assembly for reading encoded information on a film utilizing cyan, magenta and yellow color dyes rather than silver emulsion, that may be used with existing projection equipment. The invention comprises at least one narrow spectrum LED array of a plurality of LED die that produce high intensity illumination with very little infrared energy, a current regulating device, compensation resistors for correcting any variations between the individual LED die intensity and an immersion lens for redirecting the wide LED output pattern into a small cone of light. Each LED array has a peak energy that coincides with the maximum density of a corresponding color dye layer.

Abstract: A reed switch is provided between a video camera and a battery pack circuit section. A current flowing when the video camera operates is detected by the reed switch. A video light is turned on or off on the basis of the detected current value. When the power source does not reach a specified voltage, the video light is turned off. The outer light amount when photographing is converted into an electric current by a phototransistor. When the current is less than a threshold level, the video light is lit or turned on. The threshold level is varied by a variable resistor.

  • Patent number: 5214353
Abstract: Connected in circuit between a regular two-cell battery and the light bulb in an otherwise ordinary flashlight is an auxiliary voltage source, such as a third battery cell of relatively small size. The bulb is normally powered directly from the regular two-cell battery. However, if a boost in light output is desired for a brief period of time, the auxiliary voltage source is connected in series with the two-cell battery. Switching is accomplished by way of a slide switch that has an OFF-position, an ON-position, and a spring-loaded BOOST-position. In the BOOST-position, the auxiliary voltage source is coupled in series with the two-cell battery, thereby boosting the RMS magnitude of the voltage applied to the light bulb by a factor of as much as 1.5; which, in turn, boosts the light output by a factor of about 4.0. To prevent substantial shortening of the overall life of the light bulb, since the life of the light bulb would be shortened by a substantial factor if being supplied with 1.

Abstract: Provided in a portable lamp is a cathode-heatable fluorescent bulb which is supplied from a rechargeable battery. For the purpose of charging, the lamp is coupled with a charging device situated in a region which is not at risk. The charging device is provided with separate connections for the charging voltage and for the application of a heating and starting voltage. At the beginning of the recharging phase, the battery current supply circuit for the bulb is interrupted. When removing the lamp the battery current supply circuit is closed, a heating voltage made available from the charging device and applied to the cathode of the bulb. Thereafter, the starting voltage is developed in a starting device and applied to the bulb electrodes. Only after striking of the bulb is the lamp electrically decoupled from the charging device. Starting with preheating is thus effected by means of the charging device. The lamp includes an incandescent bulb with a separate reflector.

  • Patent number: 4818917
Abstract: A ballasting circuit for fluorescent lamps includes a series-connected current limiting ballast element and an electronic assist circuit. The ballast element has a high voltage side connectable to a commercial 110 VAC/60 hertz power source and a low voltage side connected in series with the lamp. The electronic assist circuit has a full wave bridge rectifier input means connected to the low voltage side of the ballast element and a transformer output means connected in series between the ballast element and the lamp. The electronic assist circuit generates a relatively high frequency, high voltage excitation signal prior to lamp conduction to assist in starting the lamp. After lamp conduction begins, the low voltage side of the ballast element drops to the normal operating voltage of the lamp and the excitation signal amplitude correspondingly drops, but is not eliminated, so as to maintain lamp operation with low frequency power supplied from the commercial power source.
