  • Patent number: 10975829
Abstract: A spark plug combustion ionization sensor for measuring ion current inside the cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The sensor measures ion current which flows when the energy released during combustion ionizes the air inside the cylinder, and thus can detect combustion and emission parameters. The spark plug combustion ionization sensor generally includes an insulated, dedicated sensing electrode, separate from the sparking electrode of a spark plug. The sensing electrode may also be shielded to further reduce interference such as electromagnetic interference (EMI). The use of a dedicated electrode allows for ion current measurement with less electromagnetic noise from the ignition process, and also eliminates the need for circuitry that is typically necessary when the sparking electrode is also used to sense ion current.

  • Patent number: 10051700
Abstract: A multi-group brightness controllable LED tube comprises a multi-input source selector which directs electric power to the tube from a set of diversion switches inserted between a power source and preexisting ballast. The diversion switches automatically re-establish new electric current paths to supply the LED tube power and safely bypass the preexisting ballast. The LED tube also comprises a digital sub section selector for selecting two groups of SMD (surface mounted device) LED strip lights for intensity control. When first turned on, the light will be at 66% brightness. A first toggle action dims the light to 33% brightness, and a second toggle action brings it up to 100%. The third toggle will reset the LED tube to 66% brightness. The retrofitted LED tube is suitable for single end as well as double end fixtures without a complicated conversion process. Furthermore, fixtures can be reverted back to original fluorescent operation.

Abstract: A luminous signaling device with a heat dissipation system is provided. The heat dissipation system is configured to set up a natural convection current flow to remove air heated by the LED emitter and enable cooler ambient air to flow towards the LED emitter. The signaling device includes a generally tubular element having a hollow inner cavity and a first slot through the tubular element. An LED emitter is operatively connected to the tubular element, with the LED emitter being operable to emit light in response to power. The signaling device includes an electronic driver circuit configured to provide an adjustable current to the LED emitter. Wires connecting the circuit and the LED emitter run through the first slot and the inner cavity of the tubular element.

Abstract: A high pressure discharge lamp includes an outer tubular bulb whose inner space is exhausted to a vacuum; an arc tube contained in the outer tubular bulb; and a voltage reducing switching element for reducing a voltage applied to the arc tube. The voltage reducing switching element includes a heat sensitive switching element and a starting-voltage reducing element which are connected in series. During a period in which the heat sensitive switching element has a predetermined temperature or higher, the heat sensitive switching element is closed to electrically connect the arc tube and the voltage reducing switching element in parallel, so that the starting-voltage reducing element is operated. During a period in which the heat sensitive switching element has a temperature lower than the predetermined temperature, the heat sensitive switching element is opened so that the starting-voltage reducing element is not operated.

Abstract: A lamp assembly configured to inductively receive power from a primary coil. The lamp assembly includes a lamp circuit including a secondary and a lamp connected in series. In a first aspect, the lamp circuit includes a capacitor connected in series with the lamp and the secondary to tune the circuit to resonance. The capacitor is preferably selected to have a reactance that is substantially equal to or slightly less than the reactance of the secondary and the impedance of the lamp. In a second aspect, the lamp assembly includes a sealed transparent sleeve that entirely encloses the lamp circuit so that the transparent sleeve is fully closed and unpenetrated. The transparent sleeve is preferably the lamp sleeve itself, with the secondary, capacitor and any desired starter mechanism disposed within its interior.

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide an inrush current limiting resistor for suppressing inrush current, and to avoid an excessive current flowing through the inrush current limiting resistor even if the lamp is operated at a dimmed level by mistake. A compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp 1 is composed of a holder 20 and a case 30 attached to each other. The case 30 houses therein a lighting unit 50 for operating an arc tube 10. The lighting unit 50 is composed of a rectifier/smoothing circuit module having an electrolytic capacitor 53, an inverter circuit module, and a resonant circuit module having a resonance capacitor 54. The circuit modules are mounted on a printed wiring board 51. An inrush current limiting resistor 62 is connected to the input end of the rectifier/smoothing circuit module and in contact with the electrolytic capacitor 53 and the resonance capacitor 54 at their outer circumferential surfaces.

The protection apparatus includes a detector, a comparer and an inhibitor. The detector samples at least one monitor point associated with the discharge lamp lighting device to obtain at least one detection voltage. The comparer compares the at least one detection voltage with a reference voltage. The inhibitor inhibits an operation of the discharge lamp lighting device when the comparer determines that a mis-wiring of the source of electrical power to the discharge lamp lighting device exists.
