  • Patent number: 6341427
Abstract: A small, hand-held tool enables rapid and repetitive placement of window and door casing. The tool is formed from three distinctive, generally rectangular layers. The center, sandwiched layer extends beyond the outer two layers by an amount equal to the desired offset or reveal of the casing. An extension protrudes diagonally from one side of the center layer and forms a one hundred and thirty-five degree angle with an adjacent side. This extension enables the tool holder to accurately place the corners of each casing strip, after the strips have been cut at the normal diagonal forty-five degree angle. A hole through the center of each of the layers provides for easy and solid grasping and manipulation. Scribe marks may also be provided, to more readily assist the tool user to mark, measure or visually discriminate various distances and geometries. Additional alternative features are further described in the disclosure.

  • Patent number: 4794700
Abstract: A gage for marking a cutting line across the lower end portion of a door to facilitate cutting of the door to the proper length to clear carpeting, a threshold or the like. The gage includes an elongated rod which adjustably supports fixturing members having hinge curls adapted to interleave with the curls of the hinge wings on the door jamb and adapted to be attached to the wings by hinge pins. Once the rod has been fixtured, an elongated marking guide on the lower end portion of the rod is adjusted vertically and angularly to a position in which the lower edge of the guide just clears the floor or threshold when the guide is swung about the axis of the rod. After the guide has been locked in its properly adjusted position on the rod, the gage is detached from the door jamb and is placed on the door with the curls of the fixturing members in alinement with curls on the hinge wings of the door.

  • Patent number: 4685216
Abstract: A cabinet maker's arch door or crown door marking gauge has side members attachable to a work table of a table saw or shaper. A spring band is held on the side members so that opposite sides of the band are perpendicular to the sides of a panel to be marked which is positioned between the side members. The band forms a symmetrical arch between the sde members which is marked on the panel. One side of the band is adjustably held by one side member so the length of the band between the side members, and thus the height of the arch between the side members can be varied. The side member are adjustably held on the support so the distance between the side members can be changed to permit marking panels of different widths.
