  • Patent number: 11112227
Abstract: A tape measure attachment system including a finger guard assembly for protecting a user from injury is disclosed. When taking measurements on surfaces it is possible to become injured because of a splinter or cut from the surface. The tape measure attachment system prevents such injuries to occur. The tape measure attachment system is mounted to a tape measure blade through a measuring blade slot created by an attachment left side and an attachment right side. These two sides make it possible to take accurate measurements without having to touch the working surface that may possibly cause injury. There is also an overhang that extends towards a user in order to allow the user to glide the tape measure blade along the working surface without having to touch that surface. The tape measure attachment system also includes a pivot point that allows measurements to be taken about a fixed point.

  • Patent number: 6591511
Abstract: An improved framing square having integral features for automating the marking and cutting of angles. The square contains two sliding carriages—one in the body and one in the blade. Each carriage has a deployable pin. In order to set an angle, the user first deploys the pins in each sliding carriage so that they protrude downward from the square. Next, the user sets the sliding carriage in the body to the desired position and locks it in place. The user then sets the sliding carriage in the blade to the desired position and locks it in place. The two pins protruding from the sliding carriages are then butted against the board to be cut. Once they are in place, the blade of the square will form the correct cutting angle across the board. Since many common cuts employ a twelve inch base leg, the invention includes another feature: Rather than set the sliding carriage within the body to twelve inches, the user may opt instead to deploy a fixed pin located in the body at the twelve inch position.

  • Patent number: 4660295
Abstract: A hand-held measuring device including an elongated base having a pair of opposed parallel metric measuring scales on the upper face thereof, a slider slidably mounted on the base having a linear indicator perpendicular to the axis of the base and a holder device for holding the stamp on the base under the slider while the slider is being moved from one end of the printed border on the stamp to the other. The left hand edge of the printed border of the stamp must be zeroed at the zero points of both scales using the indicator line. The slider is then slid to the opposite printed border on the face of the stamp while the holding means is held firmly so that the indicator line registers therewith. The precise dimension of the distance across the face of the stamp to the right hand printed border can then be read off of both scales. The indicator inscribed on the slider is perpendicular to the axis of the base. The holding device can be a thin flexible folded over piece of celluloid type plastic.

  • Patent number: 4291468
Abstract: A mechanical point locator and distance divider provides for quick and reliable division of a distance into an integral fraction of the distance, being useful for drafting, with maps or charts, in the construction industry and around the home. Leading and trailing indicators are slidably mounted on a base or housing, and a cord and pulleys appropriately interconnect them to cause the trailing indicator to move at a speed and for a distance which are an integral fraction of the speed and distance the leading indicator is moved by the operator. Provision is made for assuring the return of the trailing indicator according to the same desired relationship with respect to the return of the leading indicator. Half-point and third-point locators are specifically described, but the principles of the invention enable the provision of any fractional point locator wherein the distance desired to be located is an integral fraction of a distance to which the device is applied.
