  • Patent number: 10689224
Abstract: A stackable apparatus for mounting and feeding coiled or spooled wire or cable includes a turnable that includes a turntable having a top surface that includes concentric measurement circles and that defines a pair of radial channels. The turntable includes a plurality of posts that are length adjustable and positioned in the pair of radial channels, respectively, and configured to guide a coil or receive the spool. Each post includes a post slide portion correspondingly shaped to slide in a respective radial channel. The apparatus includes a base having a pair of support members each having a longitudinal configuration fixedly attached to one another in a transverse arrangement so as to form conjoined members, the conjoined members defining a bore. A hub is received in the bore and operable to receive a post depending from the turntable for providing freewheeling rotation of the turntable.

  • Publication number: 20150077765
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, apparatus, and computer program products related to a cable-based measuring system. The cable-based measuring system includes a cable, comprising an inner cable member configured to move linearly within an outer cable housing. The measuring system also includes a measuring device configured to generate measurement information regarding movement of the inner cable member relative to the outer cable housing using one or more encoders. A computer system receives the measurement information from the measuring device. The measurement information indicates length as a function of time, and represents three orthogonal dimensional measurements of a three-dimensional object. Based on the measurement information, the computer system identifies a length of each dimensional measurement, including a length, a width, and a height of the three-dimensional object.

  • Publication number: 20140075772
Abstract: A measuring tape rule device includes a tape rule housing, the housing having a connection portion. The device also includes an axle within the housing, the axle configured to rotate about an axis of rotation. The device also includes a reel within the housing, the reel configured to rotate about the axis of rotation and the axle. The device additionally includes an elongated tape having gradations thereon and wound on the reel. The device further includes a first spring coupled between the axle and the connection portion of the housing, and a second spring coupled between the axle and the reel. Rotation of the reel relative to the housing in a direction tending to tension the second spring transmits rotational movement to the axle through the tensioning of the second spring. Such rotational movement of the axle is applied to the first spring to tension the first spring.

  • Patent number: 6561451
Abstract: A measuring cable travel sensor includes a housing and a cable drum which is arranged in the housing rotatably and longitudinally displaceably in the longitudinal direction of the travel sensor. The measuring cable is guided into and out of the housing through a stationary cable guide. The travel sensor has a longitudinal drive for displacing the cable drum, including a spindle drive comprising a screwthreaded spindle and a spindle nut screwable thereon. The longitudinal drive has an additional transmission for transmitting rotary movement of the cable drum to the spindle drive for producing cable drum displacement.

  • Patent number: 6328244
Abstract: The Easy Arm Cable Winder Adapter is a labor and time saving device which allows small diameter cables to be retrieved and wound with an electric drill. The electric drill provides the torque required to retrieve and wind the cable. The Easy Arm Cable Winder Adapter can be modified to work with any brand or type of hand operated down hole instrumentation as well as to retrieve and spool any hand operated cable, wire, tube, line, filament, fiber, thread, string, twine, cord, rope or hose. More specifically, the Easy Arm Cable Winder Adapter significantly reduces the cost, time and effort required to retrieve Slope Indicator Company's Water Level Indicator (meter) cable and wind it back on its spool. Use of the Easy Arm Cable Winder Adapter on a water level meter makes sounding wells significantly faster and requires much less physical labor. The Easy Arm Cable Winder Adapter extends the range of applications for the water level meter and, in some cases, may preclude the use of more expensive technologies.

  • Patent number: 5448836
Abstract: Apparatus for placing a mark on the spine of a tape cassette at a location therealong corresponding to the length of the selection on the tape in which cassettes successively loaded with the selection from a pancake tape having the same selection recorded thereon a plurality of times are passed to a marking station at which a marking device is moved from a home position to a second position spaced therefrom by a distance equal to the length of the selection in response to the loading of a selection into an empty cassette. The marking device is actuated in response to movement of a cassette into the marking station with its spine extending in a direction from the home position toward the second position of the marking device. The exhausting of the pancake tape is sensed to return the marking device to its home position.

  • Patent number: 5267401
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the diameter of sheet material wound on a reel, and for setting the tension on sheet material as it is wound on the reel. According to one embodiment, the diameter of a take-up reel including sheet material wound thereon is determined from the angle of rotation or instantaneous angular speed of the take-up reel, and movement of the sheet material as obtained from rotation of a circular element such as a drive roller in a pinch roller drive system which rotates in proportional to sheet material movement. In another embodiment, the diameter of a reel in a reel-to-reel transport system is determined from the angles of rotation or instantaneous angular speeds of the supply and take-up reels, the total amount of sheet material in the system, and the packing factor of the sheet material rewound on the take-up reel.

  • Patent number: 5257462
Abstract: Apparatus for measuring the length of textile material wound onto a lap beam and in particular, onto a dyeing beam, having (a) a pressure roll bearing upon the beam lap and mechanically connected with a displacement detecting transducer that emits measurement impulses, (b) a beam-driven shaft encoder that emits a predetermined number of calculation impulses for each revolution of the beam, and (c) a computer that calculates the partial lengths of the laps (lt) from the measurement impulses and the calculation impulses. The displacement detecting transducer is movably or slidingly interengaged with an elongated linear member in the form of a toothed rack hinged so that a projection of one end always intersects the longitudinal axis of the lap beam.

  • Patent number: 5007178
Abstract: A measuring tape device which includes a casing having an aperture through which a coilable measuring tape can be extracted and retracted. A coilable measuring tape is disposed in the casing with a distal end projecting from the aperture. A first brake mechanism is mounted on the casing for normally applying a controlled drag on the tape which allows the tape to be extracted or retracted against the drag to any given length and held at that length. A second brake mechanism is mounted on the casing and is selectively operable for applying a positive lock on the tape greater in magnitude than the drag of the first brake mechanism, to prevent accidental extraction or retraction of the tape.
