Fluid Actuated Indicator Patents (Class 33/837)
  • Patent number: 6435006
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring lengths pneumatically. According to the invention, the medium used for measuring is conducted through a front nozzle and a measuring nozzle, onto a deflection plate. The distance of the deflection plate from the measuring nozzle is determined from the change in pressure p2 occurring between the front nozzle and the measuring nozzle. The pressure p1 in front of the front nozzle is also measured and the length value resulting from the pressure measurement between the front nozzle and the measuring nozzle is corrected according to said pressure p1. This ensures that a high level of measuring accuracy can be achieved using a small quantity of compressed air.

  • Patent number: 5865059
Abstract: The invention relates to a thickness gauge (1) for non metallic materials (4) in the form of foil, film, tape or the like which comprises first non contact measuring means (3), designed to measure the distance of the faced material surface, and second non contact measuring means (5), designed to measure the distance of a metal reference surface (6), said first and second measuring means (3, 5) being installed on one side of a space for receiving the material (4) and operating in two coaxial spatial regions, so that their measurements refer to a same measuring axis (8), wherein the first non contact measuring means (3) is a backscattering fluid sensor.

  • Patent number: 5161312
Abstract: In a machine for monitoring the vertical position of a contact wire of an overhead line extending above a track, which comprises a self-propelled machine frame including a superstructure, an undercarriage supporting the machine frame on the track and having wheels journaled on a wheel axle and engaging the running faces of the track rails, and a vertically adjustable measuring yoke mounted on the machine frame, a frame is vertically adjustably mounted on the machine frame for monitoring the vertical position of the contact wire, the monitoring frame having an upper end and a device connected to the upper monitoring frame end for measuring the vertical position of the contact wire, and a lower end at a fixed distance from the plane.

  • Patent number: 4878298
Abstract: A circular indicator gauge includes a body of molded plastic and a spiral channel formed therein with an inlet at one end of the channel and an air filled reservoir at the other end. A movable piston is in a chamber that is filled with mercury and in communication with the inlet of the channel. A faceplate and indicia film are ultrasonically welded to the body to complete the channel and reservoir. A spring in the chamber urges the piston toward a rest position. A sensing device moves the piston in response to displacement of a workpiece. A compensating screw communicates with the chamber for correcting for temperature changes. A cylindrical, relative displacement indicator is also disclosed and includes a clear body with a straight channel therethrough that is in communication with a piston that is movable in a mercury filled chamber and is operated by a sensor. An upper cap enables in line mounting of the indicator in the chuck of a tool, such as a drill press.
