  • Patent number: 8111150
Abstract: Aspects and embodiments of the present invention provide a system for obtaining, processing and managing data from an implanted sensor. In some embodiments, a patient or other persons can use a flexible antenna to obtain data from the implanted sensor. The flexible antenna includes at least one transmit loop and at least one receive loop. The transmit loop is adapted to propagate energizing signals to the implanted sensor. The receive loop is adapted to detect a response signal from the implanted sensor. The transmit loop includes a capacitor formed by a discontinuous area. The capacitor is adapted to allow the loop to be tuned. The flexible antenna can communicate with a patient device that collects the data from the implanted sensor, creates a data file and transmits the data file to a remote server over a network. A physician or other authorized person may access the remote server using an access device.

  • Patent number: 7788545
Abstract: A broadcast receiving device includes a card slot, a fan, a temperature sensor, a memory component and a control unit. The card slot accepts an IC card. The fan rotates to cool the IC card. The temperature sensor measures a first temperature. The memory component stores correlation information indicating a correlation between the first temperature and a second temperature of the IC card. The control unit acquires the second temperature based on the first temperature and the correlation information. The control unit determines if the second temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature. The control unit switches from a first output mode, in which an audio-video signal is outputted via the IC card, to a second output mode, in which the audio-video signal is outputted by bypassing the IC card, when the control unit determines that the second temperature exceeds the predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 4408172
Abstract: A touch sensitive variable speed tuning selector is disclosed. A rotary tuning selector knob includes a finger contact coupled to touch sensitive circuitry. Tuning selector rotation causes a shaft encoder to provide a first pulsed output to tuning circuitry for normal frequency change increments. When the touch sensitive circuitry detects the presence of a finger on the contact, a signal is provided to the tuning circuitry causing each pulse from the shaft encoder to change frequency in larger increments for fast, or coarse, tuning. In a preferred embodiment, a change in the capacitance of a touch sensitive capacitive network changes the timing of input pulses provided to a flip-flop which, in turn, changes the flip-flop output to the variable speed tuning circuitry resulting in an increase in frequency change increments.

  • Patent number: 4011526
Abstract: Disclosed apparatus compensates for the parabolic temperature induced frequency drift characteristic of a surface acoustic wave tuned oscillator. The apparatus includes a pair of varactor diodes and a temperature sensitive voltage supply. The diodes are series connected and coupled in circuit with the oscillator to affect the frequency thereof. The voltage supply connects to the common connection of the diodes, for producing control voltages thereat. Each varactor diode is chosen to have a .delta. > 1; and the control voltage varies linearly with temperature. This results in a varactor diode capacitance versus temperature characteristic which is a continuous, true parabolic function providing precise compensation for the thermal drift of oscillator frequency.
