The electrical load circuits include an electromagnetic contactor having a magnetic drive formed from a magnet yoke with a magnet coil and a magnet armature to which a contact bridge is coupled as a movable contactor contact by a contact retainer. In the switched-on state the contactor generates a magnetic retaining force for contacting the contact bridge with fixed contacts. The retaining force results from a magnetic field generated by the magnet coil, and the retaining force is greater than an armature opening force. The overload contact is integrated in the exciting current circuit of the magnet coil in such a manner that that when the exciting current circuit is closed and a movement of the contact bridge against the magnetic retaining force occurs, the magnet coil can be short-circuited by closing the overload contact.

  • Patent number: 8461947
Abstract: An installation switching device which rapidly disconnects short-circuit currents is provided. A contact lever is arranged at least partially in an air gap in a magnetic circuit such that, in case of a short circuit, the interaction between current flow and magnetic flux within the air gap can result in an electrodynamic force effect, which leads to rapid opening of at least one contact point. A switching mechanism acts via a first operating connecting line on the contact lever to open the contact point and/or to keep it open. In case of overcurrent tripping, an overcurrent release acts, by a switching mechanism and via a second operating connecting line, on the switching mechanism to open the contact point and keep it open. In case of short-circuit tripping, the contact lever acts via a third operating connecting line on the switching mechanism to keep the contact point open.

  • Patent number: 8390408
Abstract: In an electromagnetic switch, current flow through a coil causes a plunger to be axially displaced by magnetic attraction, against a restoring force of a return spring, thereby axially displacing a movable contact against fixed contacts and so enabling current flow via the contacts. One or more contact displacement limiting members are disposed on the opposite side of the fixed contacts from the movable contact, for limiting the extent to which the movable contact can be axially displaced when the fixed contacts have become worn by repetitive switching operations. A condition in which the movable contact cannot be restored to a “contacts open” position is thereby prevented.
