Abstract: A method for comletely drying polished nails without any smudging or nicking. The method utilizes first warm air and then very cold air followed by a brief return to warm air. The warm air of the initial step uses air at a temperature of approximately eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit for approximately four minutes. The very cold air has a temperature of approximately thirty-five degrees and is blown for approximately two minutes. The last step utilizes the initial heating temperature of eighty-five degrees Farenheit but for only fifteen seconds.

Abstract: A restriction sensor system for identifying the existence of blockages in exhaust conduits of clothes dryers. The restriction sensor system may include a pressure sensing device having a body configured to be coupled to an exhaust conduit of a clothes dryer. The pressure sensing device may be capable of determining changes in air pressure in the exhaust conduit. Once the air pressure present in the exhaust conduit exceeds a threshold air pressure, the pressure sensing device may send a signal to an indicator to generate an alarm, which may be a visual alarm or audible alarm, or both.

  • Patent number: 6775923
Abstract: A laundry drier control method is provided, by which drying time is dynamically controlled according to an amount and type of a drying object, using a calculated medium temperature to determine a medium temperature time. The method includes steps of initiating a drying procedure by actuating drivers, including a heater driver to increase an internal temperature of a laundry drier; determining a medium temperature time by measuring a time lapse from the drying procedure initiating step to a point where the internal temperature reaches a medium temperature between a drying initiation temperature and a maximum drying temperature; setting a drying time based on the determined medium temperature time; and performing the drying procedure for the set drying time. The drying time is set by multiplying the determined medium temperature time by a predetermined factor. The drying initiation temperature is the internal temperature at the time of initiating the drying procedure.

  • Patent number: 6766595
Abstract: Apparatus and method for desolventizing particulate material having a solvent carried thereby wherein an upper indirect heating zone and a lower direct heating zone is provided. Each of the zones has a plurality of spaced apart horizontal trays for receiving particulate material. The trays define a vertical series of compartments through which the particulate material passes. Steam is provided to the particulate material indirectly in said indirect heating zone and directly in said direct heating zone are also included. An integral air tight flash chamber below the compartments enhances solvent recovery via vaporization of residual solvent from the condensed steam adhered to the particulate material traveling through the direct heating zone prior to discharge of the particulate material. The recovered residual solvent is delivered under pressure to a predetermined compartment in the direct heating zone provide heat for desolventizing the solvent-laden particulate material.

Abstract: An apparatus for drying a travelling wet fibrous web is provided which comprises a rotating air-permeable drum. The drum is at least partially surrounded by a hood which has an interior space for receiving a flow of air and directing the flow of air through a permeable inner wall towards the outer surface of the drum. At least a portion of the hood is divided into individual sections in a cross-machine direction. Apparatus is provided for supplying a flow of drying air at a first temperature to the hood, and for supplying profiling air at a selected different temperature different from the first temperature to at least one of the individual sections.

  • Patent number: 6709499
Abstract: An air-routing household appliance includes an improved removable and washable filter in that the filter is of a flexible fiber material and is finished such that it can bind and/or decompose odorous substances. Such a filter can be disposed, in particular, in the closed process-air circuit of a condensation laundry dryer to free laundry of unpleasant odorous substances. The odor filter is produced, in particular, from a textile material and can, therefore, advantageously be cleaned in a washing machine. For the binding of odorous substances, the fibers of the filter can be treated with particles that can bind odorous substances and from which the odorous substances can also be washed out again to regenerate the filter.

  • Patent number: 6700102
Abstract: A control circuit for a clothes dryer operating with a 120 volt power supply compensates for changes in the ambient temperature to compensate for premature advancement of the dryer timer motor during an automatic drying cycle. The control circuit has a thermally biased low outlet thermostat and a thermally biased high outlet thermostat which control the energization of a heater in the dryer. The low outlet thermostat and the high outlet thermostat each open circuit at respective lower and higher predetermined temperatures when the outlet air flow from the dryer drum reaches the lower or higher respective predetermined temperatures to thereby de-energize the heater and advance the timer motor. The control circuit includes a thermally biased ambient thermostat that is normally open and unbiased, and that switches control of the heater energization from the low output thermostat to the high outlet thermostat when thermally biased and when the ambient temperature rises above a predetermined ambient temperature.
