  • Patent number: 10922763
Abstract: A method described herein is performed by a utility meter lacking an integrated display. The method includes measuring consumption of a resource and, further, generating consumption data based on measuring the consumption of the resource. Via a communication device, the utility meter wirelessly connects directly to an external device having a display. The utility meter verifies that the external device is authorized to access the utility meter. The utility meter transmits the consumption data to the external device to utilize the display of the external device as an interface to the utility meter. The utility meter receives an instruction via manual entry at the display of the external device, and the utility meter executes the instruction.

  • Patent number: 8730022
Abstract: A communication method transmits a detection signal including a valve ID, which is a fixed data string, and detection information, which is a variable data string, performs error detection on the received detection signal, and uses the detection information when there is no error. The communication method generates third data corresponding to the detection information in accordance with a predetermined rule to increase redundancy of the detection information, generates computed data by performing an exclusive disjunction logic operation with the valve ID and data including the detection information and the third data, transmits the detection signal that includes the computed data, receives the detection signal, restores the detection information and the third data by performing an exclusive disjunction logical operation with the received detection signal and the computed data, and determines whether the detection information conforms to the third data.

  • Patent number: 8670505
Abstract: A receiver system for early detection of a segment type of an input signal based on BPSK and DBPSK modulated carriers is provided. The receiver system includes a tuner that converts the input signal into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, a signal conditioning module that converts the IF signal into a baseband signal, a Frequency Domain Synchronization (FDS) block that detects the segment type of the input signal based on a carrier powers, a Transmission and Multiplexing Configuration Control (TMCC) decode block that performs a decoding operation on the received signal, a channel estimation block that estimates a channel and obtains a channel information. The TMCC decode block uses the channel information obtained from channel estimation block to correct a fast-frequency selective fading on the received signal before the decoding operation.
