Patent number: 9551779Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling pointing devices such as cameras according to the movements of an objects, such as balls or selected players of interest by attaching to the object, an RFID which, when triggered, transmits the identification of the object and detecting the transmitted identification at of different locations to define the instantaneous space location of the object. The detected identifications are inputted into an RTLP (Real-Time Location Processor) to produce tracking signals which cause the pointing device to track the movements of the object in a real-time manner. Another signal, is also derived from the RTLP defining another instantaneous condition of the object, and is also fed to the pointing device to control another parameter, such as the magnification or the displayed field-of-view, of the pointing device in a real-time manner.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2013Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Inventor: Yariv Glazer

Patent number: 8704639Abstract: A method and system for communicating with an associated home appliance having a micro-controller includes providing a master device that emits a signal in response to data indicative of energy operational costs. One or more RFID tags receive the master device signal. The RFID tag(s) are connected to the associated home appliance micro-controller to control the operational mode of the home appliance. Preferably, four RFID tags are responsive to four distinct frequency signal emitted by the master device and are representative of different modes of operation for the associated home appliance.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2009Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Brian Michael Schork, John K. Patent number: 8482391Abstract: A wall control interface for power management includes a transmitting circuit that generates a switching signal to control a switch and achieve a phase modulation to a power line signal in response to a transmitting-data. A receiving circuit is coupled to detect the phase of the power line signal for generating a data signal and a receiving-data in response to the phase of the power line signal. The receiving circuit further generates a control signal to control power of a load in accordance with the data signal or the receiving-data. The phase modulation is achieved by controlling a turn-on angle of the power line signal. The switch remains in a turn-on state during the normal condition, which achieves good power and low current harmonic. The phase modulation is only performed during the communication of the power management.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2008Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: System General Corp.Inventors: Ta-Yung Yang, Jenn-Yu G. Patent number: 8451094Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) reader outputs an interrogation signal, and hops/varies the phase of the interrogation signal sent by the RFID reader over time. Varying the phase of the interrogation signal enables the RFID reader to provide, for each zone of an RF field of the RFID reader, a particular phase that reduces of the effects of interference RF signal(s) present in that zone of the RF field. Reducing the interference in each zone of the RF field increases the throughput of RFID tags that can be successfully read by the RFID reader.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2009Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Intermec IP Corp.Inventors: Vijay Pillai, Pavel Nikitin, For Sander Lam

Patent number: 8432263Abstract: A system and method includes an RFID tag that is associated with an object or person. The object or person can actuate a call signal to summon a responder, who would be a person fitted with a BODYWARE™ electronic device that is compatible with electromagnetic signals from the RFID tag. As the responder moves into proximity to the RFID tag, initial information is acquired by a BODYWARE™ electronic device from the signals being emitted by the RFID tag. This cues the responder appropriately for the next step of inputting additional event information or data, which information or data is collected, stored, analyzed and reported as is desired or required by the particular system with which the invention is used. Means are also provided to actuate training methodology to maximize the likelihood of acquiring accurate event data, with feedback being provided to the responder for teaching proper data collection methodology.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2006Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Inventor: Linda H. Patent number: 8237550Abstract: A radio-frequency identification (RFID) device, or other type of device that transmits data in response to a broadcast of energy, may have a switch. The switch may allow an operator to signal whether the device will transmit data when energized. The switch could also allow an operator to select a particular item of data, or a combination of items of data, to be transmitted. Receiving data reflected from the device may signify an action to be performed, or may signify the fact that some physical action (e.g., pressing, by a human finger) has occurred with respect to the device. Thus, device that transmit data when energized may be used to direct the operation of other devices (e.g., by turning such other devices on or off), to implement tactilely-sensitive displays, or as part of other applications.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2008Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: James T.
