Abstract: Systems and methods for configuring a security sensor are provided. Some methods can include receiving user input identifying a configuration setting of the security sensor through a user input device located on the security sensor, identifying the configuration setting based on the user input, transmitting a registration message to a security system control panel identifying the configuration setting, and operating in accordance with the configuration setting.
Abstract: An apparatus in an illustrative embodiment comprises at least one processing device comprising a processor coupled to a memory. The processing device is configured to receive power consumption data relating to at least one monitored device, and to classify the monitored device based at least in part on the power consumption data. The processing device is further configured to select a power policy for the classified device, and to control application of power to the classified device in accordance with the selected power policy. For example, controlling application of power to the classified device in accordance with the selected power policy may comprise determining contextual information for the classified device, generating a control signal based at least in part on the contextual information and the selected power policy, and transmitting the control signal to at least one node of a node network. Other illustrative embodiments include methods and computer program products.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system for at least one of identifying or verifying which specific data center device, from a plurality of data center devices, is being powered from an AC outlet of a power distribution unit. The system includes a message encoding algorithm module, a message decoding algorithm module and an input signal monitoring subsystem. The input signal monitoring subsystem monitors an AC power signal being supplied to the data center devices, wherein one of the data center devices includes an AC powered target device. The PDU has a controller which uses the message encoding algorithm to create a modulated AC power signal that includes an encoded message in accordance with a predetermined power cycle profile (PCP) event. Abstract: A motor vehicle with an electric motor, in particular a hybrid or electric vehicle, has a high-voltage vehicle electrical system with a high-voltage stored energy source which supplies electrical energy to the electric motor for driving the motor vehicle, and a low-voltage vehicle electrical system for supplying electricity to a number of consumers in the motor vehicle. An electrical signal path is provided between the low-voltage vehicle electrical system and the high-voltage vehicle electrical system and powered by the voltage from the low-voltage vehicle electrical system. A controller in the motor vehicle is configured to cause a predetermined change of the signal on the signal path from a first signal state to a second signal state, wherein the first signal state indicates normal operation of the motor vehicle and the second signal state indicates an emergency state of operation of the motor vehicle which deviates from normal operation.

Abstract: Techniques are described for using information from a knob sensor of an appliance in a property monitoring system. In some implementations, a monitoring system may be configured to receive sensor information from a knob, receive monitoring device information from a monitoring device and, based on the sensor information from the knob, identify a knob event. Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing efficient power management for a multi-node computing system are disclosed. A computing system includes multiple nodes. When power down negotiation is distributed, negotiation for system-wide power down occurs within a lower level of a node hierarchy prior to negotiation for power down occurring at a higher level of the node hierarchy. When power down negotiation is centralized, a given node combines a state of its clients with indications received on its downstream link and sends an indication on an upstream link based on the combining. Only a root node sends power down requests.

Abstract: A supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system includes an input/output (I/O) management system in communication with a SCADA application and multiple SCADA devices. The I/O management system is configured to receive multiple request messages, and for each of the messages, forward the request message to a device driver associated with the SCADA device, and establish an asynchronous connection for communicating with the SCADA device. The I/O management system then receives request message data associated with the request message from the device driver, and forwards the request message data to the SCADA device through the asynchronous connection. When response message data is received from the SCADA device, the I/O management system forwards the response message data to the device driver for generating a response message. When response message is received from the device driver, the I/O management system forwards the response message to the SCADA application.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed herein for power modulation control of power grids using end-use loads. At the beginning of a coordination period typically lasting a few minutes, a population of end-use loads (water heaters, air conditioners, plug-in electric vehicles, etc.) is interrogated for their willingness to participate in power modulation by undergoing state transitions from on to off, or off to on. Distribution system flexibilities are calculated from the sums of device powers within distribution systems. Area flexibilities are calculated from the sums of device powers within areas. Thresholds for various devices to change state in response to inter-area oscillation damping or frequency regulation are derived from these flexibilities. Two power functions are monitored in real-time and compared with the device thresholds to trigger state changes which then remain locked throughout the remainder of the coordination period, then the devices are released from the lockout state.
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses and computer-readable media for receiving data from one or more sensors associated with one or more home devices, such as appliances, home systems, etc. are presented. The data may be used to determine whether operation of the home device is within an acceptable range. If not, the user associated with the home device may receive an alert identifying a potential issue. Abstract: In an electrical power outlet device, a processor and a memory are configured to execute an application within the outlet device, which computes a pattern of usage of the outlet device. A set of sensors in the outlet device includes a first sensor that is usable to detect an event in an environment in which the outlet device is supplying power. The environment includes elements that are not participating in an electrical circuit that receives power from the outlet device and the event is usable by the application to alter the pattern of usage. An autonomous modification of an operation of the outlet device is performed in response to the pattern of usage, the event, or both. The operation changes a power supplying state of the outlet device without using an external switching apparatus or an external logic implemented outside the outlet device.

Abstract: A system obtains respective measurements of relevant electrical parameters of a motor during operational stages including a start-up stage, a transition stage, a steady-state stage, idle stage, or a shutdown stage of the motor driven system driven by the motor. Based on the respective measurements, the monitoring system then determines respective electrical patterns corresponding to the operational stages. Next, the monitoring system compares the respective electrical patterns corresponding to the operational stages with respective baseline electrical patterns modeled for the operational stages to yield a comparison. Then, the monitoring system determines a status of the motor driven system based on a comparison between baseline and observed operating parameters. Trend pattern monitoring is used to eliminate storing massive volumes of trend data by capturing and characterizing the important moments when data values change in a significant manner.

Abstract: A method for generating time-lapse representation of video footage in a security/automation system is described. In one embodiment, the method may include receiving video from a camera at a location associated with a home automation system, determining a first motion event in the video, identifying a level of priority associated with the first motion event, and generating a time-lapse representation of the video having a first frame rate for a first part of the time-lapse representation of the video and a second frame rate different from the first frame rate for a second part of the time-lapse representation of the video that includes the first motion event. In some cases, the time-lapse representation of the video may be generated based at least in part on the level of priority associated with the first motion event.
Abstract: An electrohydraulic control circuit includes a hydraulically-operated drive assembly and an emergency valve. The hydraulically-operated drive assembly includes an electrically-actuated proportional valve and hydraulic operating lines. The proportional valve is connected to the hydraulic operating lines for actuation of the drive assembly in a normal operation mode. The proportional valve is also connected to a pressure supply line and to a return line. The emergency valve is connected to the hydraulic operating lines for actuation of the drive assembly in an emergency operation mode. In the emergency operation mode, the emergency valve is actuated via an emergency operating unit.

Abstract: A service management system communicates via wide area network with gateway devices located at respective user premises. The service management system remotely manages delivery of application services, which can be voice controlled, by a gateway, e.g. by selectively activating/deactivating service logic modules in the gateway. The service management system also may selectively provide secure communications and exchange of information among gateway devices and among associated endpoint devices. An exemplary service management system includes a router connected to the network and one or more computer platforms, for implementing management functions. Abstract: Safety systems and methods for tracking objects such as personnel and tools during a vehicle build process and activating an alarm when the tracked object is within a safety zone where such presence is not permitted under the current circumstances. The safety system includes a multiplicity of active positioning sensors configured to detect the presence of an object at a particular distance from or within a particular area or volume of space and a controller configured to use sensor data to calculate the virtual location of each sensed object relative to a virtual computer-aided design map of the as-built aircraft design. In response to detection of the presence of an object in unacceptable proximity to or within a particular safety zone of the vehicle, an alarm is activated and the planned build process is altered.

Abstract: Various examples are directed to configuring a configurable hardware module to perform a measurement of a physical quantity. A configuration manager may receive an indication of the physical quantity and performance factor data describing the measurement of the physical quantity. The configuration manager may generate a hardware configuration of the hardware based at least in part on the indication of the physical quantity and the performance factor data. The hardware configuration may comprise instruction data to configure the hardware module to execute a dynamic measurement of the physical quantity.
