Automatic Patents (Class 340/3.63)
  • Patent number: 9857233
Abstract: Embodiments of an environmental monitoring system that mitigates complexities in installation and maintenance while complying with strict regulations on operations of the system. The environmental monitoring system may communicate wirelessly between components such as sensor units and display devices, enabling these components to be separately and easily installed in an environment without needing to install wires in the environment to connect them. In addition, in embodiments at least some of the components (e.g., sensor units and display devices) of the environmental monitoring system may be adapted to wirelessly and reliably communicate using specific wireless communication protocols, described in detail herein, that exchange few communications between the components and thereby decrease power consumption of these components. Further, in some embodiments, a display device may include hardware and/or execute software that drive and/or update a display only when a condition is met.

  • Patent number: 9797801
Abstract: A structural health monitoring system comprising intelligent sensors, wherein the intelligent sensors are individually programmable and can be tuned to listen to specific frequencies based on a scaling factor based on the sensor's location in the system being monitored, a set of pre-known frequencies based on the sensor's location in the system being monitored, and the output of a central frequency-based system sensor.

  • Patent number: 9769786
Abstract: Methods, medium, systems, and a network device (or node) are described for enhanced power notification from a node, such as an ID node, in a wireless node network having a master node and a server. The ID node is capable of communicating directly with the master node but incapable of communicating directly with the server. In general, the ID node detects a current power status for the ID node and determines a current location of the ID node. The method then has the ID node broadcasting an enhanced power alert notification when the current power status of the ID node is below a threshold. The enhanced power alert notification indicates that the current power status of the ID node is below the threshold and includes the current location of the ID node.

  • Patent number: 9654070
Abstract: An automatic gain controller comprises an amplifier including a variable gain. A resonant low-pass filter includes an input coupled to an output of the amplifier. The resonant low-pass filter is a second order low-pass filter. The second order low-pass filter includes a Sallen-Key topology. The Sallen-Key topology comprises a quality factor between 1.4 and 1.6. A threshold detection circuit includes an input coupled to an output of the second order low-pass filter to compare an output signal of the second order low-pass filter to a threshold and an output of the threshold detection circuit coupled to control the variable gain of the amplifier. A state machine is coupled between the output of the threshold detection circuit and the amplifier. The state machine is configured to transition based on a current state of the state machine. The resonant low-pass filter exhibits overshoot to trigger a hysteresis of the threshold detection circuit.

  • Patent number: 8120494
Abstract: RFID readers, reader systems, and methods are provided that utilize smart antenna switching. A first signal is transmitted from a first antenna estimating presence of tags within the antennas field of view. If fewer than a predefined number of tags are estimated, the system switches to a second antenna. Otherwise, the tags found in the field of view of the first antenna are inventoried before switching to the second antenna.

  • Patent number: 7920046
Abstract: RFID readers, reader systems, and methods are provided for processing RFID tags through interruptions for antenna change or other reasons. If the reason for the interruption is an antenna change, the reader restarts processing the tags initializing any operational parameters. If the reason is other than an antenna change, the reader determines whether the operation is to be continued or to be restarted upon power up and proceeds accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7415441
Abstract: A method and system for automatically printing a hard copy of transaction information relating to a transaction conducted electronically between a user-side and a supplier side. A control apparatus performs an operation of identifying a selected aspect of information regarding the electronic transaction to thereby generate a print apparatus which is sent to a printing apparatus which prints transaction information in response to said print request. In addition, a printer for use with the method and system is provided.

  • Patent number: 7061365
Abstract: A communication apparatus automatically sets the most appropriate communication mode in accordance with the location at which the communication apparatus is used. For example, the communication mode is switched between operating as a master station and operating as a remote station of a wireless communication system depending on whether or not connection is made to a wired communication line.
