  • Patent number: 8314718
Abstract: A method is provided for efficiently processing messages staged for authentication in a security layer of a protocol stack in a wireless vehicle-to-vehicle communication system. The vehicle-to-vehicle communication system includes a host vehicle receiver for receiving messages transmitted by one or more remote vehicles. The host receiver is configured to authenticate received messages in a security layer of a protocol stack. A wireless message broadcast by a remote vehicle is received. The wireless message contains characteristic data of the remote vehicle. The characteristic data is analyzed for determining whether the wireless message is in compliance with a predetermined parameter of the host vehicle. The wireless message is discarded prior to a transfer of the wireless message to the security layer in response to a determination that the wireless message is not in compliance with the predetermined parameter of the host vehicle. Otherwise, the wireless message is transferred to the security layer.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for securing car against theft via wireless sensor, a charging circuit and chargeable battery, a CPU circuit connected to a transmission circuit, and an air pressure sensor or an infrared sensor are provided in a cigarette-lighter plug, so that the sensor detects any change of air pressure or any change of temperature in a car due to any invader, and sends a trigger signal to the CPU circuit. The signal is encoded at the CPU circuit and then transmitted via the transmission circuit to a wireless antitheft main unit mounted in the car to trigger a siren as a warning if main unit is set to active stale by external remote control transmitter. Since no wire is needed between the sensor and the main unit, a thief is prevented from locating the main unit by tracing any wire extended thereto.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for detecting the presence of an intruder in a vehicle using sensors to measure the change in distance between a portion of the vehicle and the ground. Distance sensors may be placed in a plurality of locations along the vehicle, preferably under the hood where the sensors have a clear line of sight to the ground. A computer is provided to receive the measurements from the sensors to compute a base distance which represents the weight of the vehicle with no intruder. The sensors continue to measure the distance to the ground and the computer subsequently computes a present distance and compares said present distance to said base distance. The computer activates an alarm when the present distance is lesser than the base distance by a predetermined value.

Abstract: An automobile steering wheel lock with an alarm includes a lock having a lock core with a chamber containing an alarm and at least one light hole. The alarm consists of a circuit board, a battery, a buzzer and a touch switch. The circuit board capable of sending signals has a warning light and a high-density LED light. Also, a help-signaling device is installed at a conspicuous location of a car and provided with at least one lamp panel. Each lamp panel is provided with a wireless receiver for receiving signals from the alarm and formed of luminescent lamps or LED lamps to show help signals. So, should the buzzer be moved by a burglar, it would sound immediately, spontaneously activating the high-density LED light to radiate toward the driver's seat and the lamp panel lit, achieving multiple anti-theft effects.

Abstract: A vehicle remote control system can have a transmitter transmitting a signal, a receiver receiving the signal, and a control device in communication with the receiver and controlling at least one operation of the vehicle. A selected operation may be executable by the signal. The vehicle remote control system includes a microphone that can determine an ambient noise volume and an ambient noise frequency in an area around the vehicle and is in communication with the control device. Furthermore, the vehicle remote control system includes a speaker that is able to generate an answer signal to confirm that the selected operation was executed. The speaker is in communication with the control device which generates an answer signal as a function of ambient noise volume and the ambient noise frequency in the area surrounding the vehicle.

Abstract: This application is directed to a shock sensor mounted in an electronic device. The shock sensor includes both active and passive shock detection methods that allow a technician to determine whether the electronic device was subjected to a shock event that exceeded an impact threshold level. The shock sensor may include shock detection contacts that form an electrical circuit that remains open in the absence of a shock event that exceeds an impact threshold level. In response to a significant shock event, a movable component or substance of the shock sensor may move from a first position to a second position, thereby closing the electrical circuit formed by the shock detection contacts. The change in circuit may be detected and used to provide active indication of whether the electronic device has been subjected to a substantial shock event. In addition, the shock sensor may be observed to passively determine whether the electronic device has been subjected to a substantial shock event.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for locating an asset in a facility. An example of an asset is a vehicle and an example of a facility is a parking facility. When the user enters the facility with the asset, the user receives a base and code from a base/code booth. The code may be stored on a removable card. The user secures the asset by entering the code. While the user is away from the facility, the present invention monitors the base for movement detected by the motion sensor. When the user returns to the facility, a locator panel displays the location of the asset. The present invention determines the location of the asset by triangulation using the locators. The user then returns to the asset, deactivates the motion sensor, returns the base and code to a base/code booth, pays for the storage services, and exits the facility.
