Timed Access Blocking Patents (Class 340/5.28)
  • Patent number: 11954650
Abstract: The described techniques relate generally to managing in-person access of users to physical properties based at least in part on tracking geographical locations of devices of the users, such as by using one or more geofences created around a physical property to provide authorized users with temporary access to the physical property based at least in part on tracked geographical locations of devices of the users. In some situations, a specialized server provides information to a user's mobile device about the geofence(s), and the mobile device notifies the specialized server when it breaches one or more of the geofences. The specialized server may perform further related activities, such as perform tracking of locations of users as they move around a physical property, and further analyzing the tracked location information to determine associated information and initiate corresponding additional automated activities.

  • Patent number: 11802421
Abstract: An electronic lockbox includes a latching apparatus that uses a rotary actuator with multiple positions to achieve multiple locking states. Multiple positions of the actuator are detected, using optical sensors. The locking mechanism includes an outer sleeve and an inner cylindrical barrel that are coupled with torsion springs. The lockbox has a shackle and a key bin that include latch pins which are retained by the inner barrel when in the locked state, and the barrel can be rotated to either release the shackle or to release the key bin that typically holds a building's key. During insertion of a latch pin into the rotatable barrel, a first interior protrusion is sufficiently wide such that after the first latch pin has been inserted into the barrel and has become latched, the first latch pin does not unlatch itself as the second latch pin is inserted and rotates the rotatable barrel during the second latch pin insertion.

  • Patent number: 11176254
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for implementing automatic firmware rollbacks after a configured number of attempts to execute the latest firmware update associated with an electronic computing unit have occurred. In a computing device, such as an electronic computing unit, a watchdog automatically generates a system reset in response to a software fault. A reset counter is configured to count a number of system resets generated by the watchdog. In response to the occurrence of the watchdog, a configurable threshold value associated with a threshold data record is compared with the value associated with the reset counter. In response to a determination that the threshold value associated with the threshold data record is greater than or equal to the value associated with the reset counter, a rollback application is executed such that the rollback application performs a swap of a first version of a firmware with a second version of the firmware.

  • Patent number: 9692638
Abstract: A communications system and method includes a database for storing problem magnitudes relating to failed attempts at accessing servers using connection engines. An intelligent routing engine could be a server operative with the database, which queries the database and delays any further attempts at accessing the server using the first connection engine if the problem magnitude exceeds a predetermined threshold. Reattempts can be made after a sufficient delay. A plurality of connection engines can be used by a client for accessing a server. The connection engines are preferably distributed among a plurality of subnets and/or IP addresses and a different connection engine can be chosen based on a desired route with minimum problems.

  • Patent number: 9659191
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for encryption key storage and modification in a data storage device. A portion of an encryption key may be stored in a first storage medium, and one or more bits of the encryption key may be stored in a one-time writable storage location. Data received at the data storage device may be encrypted using the encryption key, and may be stored in a storage medium. In the event that it is no longer desired to allow users to access the encrypted data stored in the storage medium, the one or more bits of the encryption key stored in a one-time writable storage location may be modified. Such modification thereby prevents decryption of the encrypted data and effectively precludes access to the encrypted data.

  • Patent number: 9598879
Abstract: A system for identifying a key to a lock. The system uses a simple scanner. Within the scanner, a plate is illuminated by at least one LED. Opposite the plate is positioned a matrix of photodetectors. The plate and the matrix of photodetectors are separated by a slot that is sized to receive the key. The matrix of photodetectors generates an electronic signal that is indicative of light from the plate that passes across the key in the slot. A memory is provided that stores known key signals. A processor is provided that compares the newly generated electronic signal to the known key signals in the memory to find a match. A display is provided for displaying information about which the key signals from memory is a match. In this manner, a person can identify the key.

  • Patent number: 9588907
Abstract: In a portable data carrier having a non-volatile memory, a memory controller and a memory interface, an effected initial operation of the data carrier is checked through a request to a security unit of the data carrier via a security interface connected to the security unit. For this purpose, the data carrier comprises a memory portion comprising the memory interface and a body portion comprising the security interface, which are interconnected such that the memory portion can be folded out of the body portion, so that simultaneously the memory interface is laid open for a connection to an end device and the electrical connection between the security unit and the security interface is disconnected irreversibly.

  • Patent number: RE46539
Abstract: An electronic lock box system includes a wireless portable transponder that communicates with an electronic lock box using a low power radio link. The portable transponder includes: a wide area network radio to communicate to a central clearinghouse computer, a motion sensor to activate its wide area network radio, and a connector to communicate with a secure memory device. The electronic lock box sends a hail message that is intercepted by the portable transponder; the hail message includes identification information. The portable transponder responds with a message that includes a time sensitive encryption key; the lock box authenticates this response message using its own time sensitive encryption key. If the messages are authenticated, the lock box sends an access event record to the portable transponder, and this access event record is stored in the secure memory device. If a wide area network is available, the portable transponder sends the access event record to the central clearinghouse computer.
