Patent number: 4257037Abstract: A detector and indicator for burglar alarms is provided wherein passive resonators, each tuned to a different frequency, are employed across each of the normally closed series switches of the burglar alarm. An alternating current generator is connected to the series line and tuned progressively to the frequency of each of the passive resonators. If an open circuit occurs across any of the resonators, a detector circuit detects the high impedance which results and actuates an indicator circuit wherein the indicator is selected for the frequency of the resonator of a particular location. Even if a plurality of switches are open, the selection circuit will be activated for the particular locations of the open switches.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1979Date of Patent: March 17, 1981Assignee: Stellar Systems, Inc.Inventor: Ronald W. Patent number: 4247816Abstract: This invention relates to a potentiometer with a digital display indicating the position of the potentiometer slider. In a known potentiometer of this type, a mechanical multidigit counter is mounted outside the potentiometer housing on the shaft carrying the slider. However, since the counter is mounted on the potentiometer shaft proper, the potentiometer must be inconveniently mounted in an apparatus at a point at which the counter can be read. Another disadvantage of the known potentiometer results from the fact that restrictions exist for the scale of the counter. The present invention provides a potentiometer of the above-specified type which is of simple design and is more versatile than known potentiometers. The advantage of the potentiometer according to this invention is that the display means can be mounted at a point remote from the potentiometer.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1978Date of Patent: January 27, 1981Assignee: Litton Systems, Inc.Inventors: Josef B. Patent number: 4240078Abstract: The supervised conductive loop comprises a plurality of switch elements connected in series with a DC current source. Encoder modules are located in parallel with each of the switch elements. The encoder module comprises an oscillator and an impedance element. When a switch element is opened, the oscillator associated with that switch is energized and places an AC signal on the loop. The frequency of each oscillator uniquely identifies the associated switch element. The impedance element, formed by a resistor and a capacitor, is used both as a filter for the power supply voltage to the oscillator as well as a bandpass filter to permit oscillator signals present on the loop to bypass open switch elements and be detected at any location in the loop. Frequency identifying means are coupled to the loop to permit an indication of which oscillators have been operated.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1978Date of Patent: December 16, 1980Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Donald A. Patent number: 4238790Abstract: A monitoring arrangement comprises units for sensing the flow of seeds through each coulter of a sowing machine and indicating units installed on a part of the machine where the coulters are supported. A common, central unit to indicate an interruption occurring in any coulter is also provided, acting via a common electric conduit that feeds signals from the indicating units to the central unit. The invention suggests one indicating unit for a maximum of three sensing units but preferably the number of the indicating units is half that of the sensing units while the number of the latter is identical with that of the coulters. The arrangement may further include a unit for counting fault locations, connected to the indicating units by the common conduit. At least some of the sensing units may be in the form of piezoelectric sensors that respond to the impingement of the seeds within the coulters.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1978Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: Mazogazdasagi Gepkiserleti IntezetInventors: Barnabas Balogh, Jozsef Erdelyi, Zsolt Fabian, Vazul Rusz, Mihaly Samu, Jozsef Szente
