Abstract: A display device according to an embodiment of the disclosure includes a first driver that sequentially selects each of pixels on a row basis, and a second driver that applies, through a signal line, an image signal to each of the pixels in a pixel row that is selected by the first driver, and that inverts a polarity of the image signal at a predetermined period. The second driver sequentially applies, to the signal line, a first precharge signal voltage having a relatively large amplitude and a second precharge signal voltage having a relatively small amplitude, prior to the application of the image signal. The second driver further controls the application of the first precharge signal voltage to cause an amount of leak of an electric current from the pixel to the signal line due to the application of the first precharge signal voltage to become smaller than that in another period for each of predetermined horizontal periods.

Abstract: A method may include generating display driver signals that vary between only two levels and applying the display driver signals to opposing electrodes of a display segment within a display device. An intrinsic capacitance of the display device filters the display driver signals to generate different analog signal levels at the display segment of the display device. The method varies the pulse density of the display driver signals to select or de-select the display segment based on an average voltage magnitude across the display segment over a time period. The display segment is activated when the average voltage magnitude exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: A source-drain voltage of one of two transistors connected in series becomes quite small in a set operation (write signal), thus the set operation is performed to the other transistor. In an output operation, two transistors operate as a multi-gate transistor, therefore, a current value can be small in the output operation. In other words, a current can be large in the set operation. Therefore, the set operation can be performed rapidly without being easily influenced by an intersection capacitance and a wiring resistance which are parasitic on a wiring and the like. Further, an influence of variations between adjacent ones can be small as one same transistor is used in the set operation and the output operation.

The connecting lines are connected to the storage voltage lines that are formed on adjacent pixels of pixels arranged in the second direction. The common voltage applying section applies a common voltage to the storage voltage lines that are formed in a portion of the pixels arranged in the first direction. Thus, a substantially uniform current may be applied to the display area to decrease the distortion of the common voltage, thereby increasing a liquid crystal display device's display quality.
