  • Patent number: 11907018
Abstract: An electronic device includes a flexible display and a device housing that defines a translation surface for the flexible display. A support layer is positioned between a portion of the flexible display and the translation surface. A rotor positioned within a curvilinear section of the flexible display causes a linear translation of the support layer across the translation surface by drawing the flexible substrate around the rotor. A flexible support structure can be positioned between the support layer and the flexible display, with the flexible support structure defining a plurality of engagement teeth with ends extending under one or more housing rails to prevent pillowing of the flexible display.

Abstract: A microLED mass transfer stamping system includes a stamp substrate with an array of trap sites, each configured with a columnar-shaped recess to temporarily secure a keel extended from a bottom surface of a microLED. In the case of surface mount microLEDs, the keel is electrically nonconductive. In the case of vertical microLEDs, the keel is an electrically conductive second electrode. The stamping system also includes a fluidic assembly carrier substrate with an array of wells having a pitch separating adjacent wells that matches the pitch separating the stamp substrate trap sites. A display substrate includes an array of microLED pads with the same pitch as the trap sites. The stamp substrate top surface is pressed against the display substrate, with each trap site interfacing a corresponding microLED site, and the microLEDs are transferred. Fluidic assembly stamp substrates are also presented for use with microLEDs having keels or axial leads.

Abstract: A head-mounted device (HMD) is configured to perform head tracking, even in low light environments. The HMD includes a stereo camera pair that includes a first camera and a second camera having overlapping fields of view. Both cameras are mounted on the HMD and are configured to detect both visible light and infrared (IR) light. The HMD also includes a flood IR light illuminator that is configured to emit a flood of IR light that spans an illumination area that overlaps with the cameras' fields of view. The intensity of the IR light is sometimes modified to accommodate low light environmental conditions. The cameras obtain images of reflected IR light. These images are then used to track movements of the HMD, even in low light environments.

  • Patent number: 10623718
Abstract: A camera calibration system jointly calibrates multiple cameras in a camera rig system. The camera calibration system obtains configuration information about the multiple cameras in the camera rig system, such as position and orientation for each camera relative to other cameras. The camera calibration system estimates calibration parameters (e.g., rotation and translation) for the multiple cameras based on the obtained configuration information. The camera calibration system receives 2D images of a test object captured by the multiple cameras and obtains known information about the test object such as location, size, texture and detailed information of visually distinguishable points of the test object. The camera calibration system then generates a 3D model of the test object based on the received 2D images and the estimated calibration parameters. The generated 3D model is evaluated in comparison with the actual test object to determine a calibration error.

Abstract: An autonomous vehicle including a sensor system that outputs a sensor signal indicative of a condition of the autonomous vehicle. The vehicle also includes a user interface device with a display. A computing system determines, based upon a profile of the passenger, that support is to be provided pictorially to the passenger when the support is provided to the passenger. The computing system further detects occurrence of an event that has been identified as potentially causing discomfort to the passenger. The computing system yet further sets a predefined pictorial support message defined in an account corresponding to the event maintained in a database prior to occurrence of the event as a pictorial support message to be presented to the passenger. The computing system additionally causes the display to present the pictorial support message, wherein the pictorial support message solicits feedback from the passenger of the autonomous vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10543486
Abstract: Microperturbation fluidic assembly systems and methods are provided for the fabrication of emissive panels. The method provides an emissive substrate with a top surface patterned to form an array of wells. A liquid suspension is formed over the emissive substrate top surface, comprising a first liquid and emissive elements. Using an array of micropores, a perturbation medium, which optionally includes emissive elements, is injected into the liquid suspension. The perturbation medium may be the first liquid, a second liquid, or a gas. A laminar flow is created in the liquid suspension along the top surface of the emissive substrate in response to the perturbation medium, and emissive elements are captured in the wells. The ejection of the perturbation medium can also be used to control the thickness of the liquid suspension overlying the top surface of the emissive substrate.
