  • Patent number: 11024260
Abstract: The disclosed techniques use a display device, optionally including optical and/or non-optical sensors providing information about the ambient environment of the display device—along with knowledge of the content that is being displayed—to predict a viewer of the display device's current visual adaptation. Using the viewer's predicted adaptation, the content displayed on the display device may be more optimally encoded. This encoding may be accomplished at encode time and may be performed in a display pipeline or, preferably, in the transfer function of the display itself—thereby reducing the precision required in the display pipeline. For example, in well-controlled scenarios where the viewer's adaptation may be fully characterized, e.g., a viewer wearing a head-mounted display (HMD) device, the full dynamic range of the viewer's perception may be encoded in 8 or 9 bits that are intelligently mapped to only the relevant display codes, given the viewer's current predicted adaptation.

Abstract: 3D printing using certain materials, such as metal containing multi-phase materials can be prone to clogs and other flow interruptions. Providing build material according to feed rate profiles having varying rates can mitigate these problems. Each feed rate profile can be broken up into blocks of time, some of which relate to fabricating the exterior geometry of the object. Each block of time can be represented by a FFT. The blocks that relate to the exterior are represented by a FFT that has significant high frequency content of 1 Hz or greater. It is beneficial to use profiles including feed rates outside of a range of feed rates suitable for steady state extrusion, being either higher or lower rates than the range limits. A combination of feed rate profiles based only on clog and flow interruption mitigation and operational to print the part according to a model can be used.

One or more VR data servers may access and transmit the VR data sets of various quality and speeds, each of which may be associated with a VR data server having access to the VR data set. A domain server may be adapted to access and transmit domain data comprising the location within the universe of each VR representation and the network address of the VR data server associated with the VR representation.

  • Patent number: 10923013
Abstract: An electronic device may include a display having an array of display pixels and having display control circuitry that controls the operation of the display. The display control circuitry may adaptively adjust the spectral characteristics of display light emitted from the display to achieve a desired effect on the human circadian system. For example, the display control circuitry may adjust the spectral characteristics of blue light emitted from the display based on the time of day such that a user's exposure to the display light may result in a circadian response similar to that which would be experienced in natural light. The spectral characteristics of blue light emitted from the display may be adjusted by adjusting the relative maximum power levels provided to blue pixels in the display or by shifting the peak wavelength associated with blue light emitted from the display.

In one or more embodiments, an augmented reality apparatus includes an emissive display layer for presenting emissive graphics to an eye of a user and an attenuation display layer for presenting attenuation graphics between the emissive display layer and a real-world scene to block light of the real-world scene from the emissive graphics. A light region compensation module dilates an attenuation graphic based on an attribute of an eye of a viewer, such as size of a pupil, to produce an expanded attenuation graphic that blocks additional light to compensate for an unintended light region. A dark region compensation module camouflages an unintended dark region with a replica graphic in the emissive display layer that reproduces an appearance of the real-world scene in the unintended dark region. A camera provides the light data used to generate the replica graphic.
