Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for generating a user-hair-color model. One embodiment takes the form of a process that includes obtaining video data depicting a head of a user. The process also includes determining a set of line segments of pixels of the video data, wherein each line segment in the determined set of line segments intersects an upper contour of the depicted head of the user. The process also includes grouping at least some of the pixels of at least one of the line segments in the determined set of line segments into three sets of pixels based at least in part on respective color data of the pixels. The three sets of pixels include a skin-pixel set, a hair-pixel set, and a background-pixel set. The process also includes updating a user hair-color model based at least in part on the skin-pixel set.

  • Patent number: 9563973
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for color selection in a desktop publishing application. A color selection technique includes receiving a selection of an image, automatically sampling a color from a pixel of the selected image, and adding the sampled color to a color swatch in a graphical user interface. The sampled color may be the predominant color in the image (e.g., the color that appears in the greatest number of pixels), or the sampled color may be the darkest or lightest color in the image. In another embodiment, several colors (e.g., two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine or ten) are sampled from different pixels of the selected image, and some or all of the sampled colors are added to the color swatch. A designer can then select the sampled color(s) from the color swatch and apply the selected color(s) to one or more elements of a layout.

  • Patent number: 9417479
Abstract: Facilitating the display of an image in a display system comprising a display panel having sub-pixels, and a backlight having individually addressable colored light emitters configured to provide light to the sub-pixels. From received image data, sub-pixel color values corresponding to color values transmitted by respective ones of the sub-pixels for display of the image are determined. From the image data, backlight values corresponding to brightnesses of ones of the colored light emitters for display of the image are determined, as are a portion of the sub-pixel color values and a portion of the backlight values that collectively correspond to a saturated or near-saturated yellow color in the displayed image. The backlight values are adjusted by increasing an amount of yellow light to be emitted by emitters of the backlight, and the color values are adjusted by decreasing an amount of yellow light to be transmitted by the sub-pixels.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an I/F, a synthesizer, and a color determinator. The I/F obtains a captured image, which is generated by imaging a subject in the vicinity of a vehicle. The synthesizer superimposes an indicator on the captured image. The color determinator, when color of the captured image is similar to a first color, changes color of the indicator from the first color.

Abstract: A system in accordance with an example is to assign a display color to a pixel to be displayed, to achieve an apparent desired color at a local neighborhood node of pixels having an apparent color bit depth greater than an addressable color palette for the display color that the pixel is capable of producing. The display color is assigned to the pixel based on a convex combination of colors of the local neighborhood node of pixels, to provide the desired color for the node based on local optical averaging.

  • Publication number: 20150049108
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system to provide an improved signal representation of non-destructive test/inspection instruments by proper color display, in order to emulate as closely as possible, the visual rendering effect of those seen in the traditional non-electronic testing, including penetrant testing and magnetic particle testing. The foregoing object of the invention is preferably realized by providing an eddy current or phased array instrument with a color palette module that allows the deployment of an array of color representation system typically used in traditional non-electronic testing methods.

  • Patent number: 8947599
Abstract: A system that adjusts chroma and luma values for a video signal is presented. During operation, the system receives a matrix of coefficients, which when applied to the chroma values and the luma values of a video signal produces substantially the same result as performing a sequence of discrete operations on the chroma values and the luma values, wherein the sequence of discrete operations includes one or more color-representation-conversion operations and one or more processing amplifier operations. For a given pixel of the video signal, the system performs a matrix-multiplication operation between a matrix representation of the chroma values and the luma values for the given pixel and the matrix of coefficients to produce a modified pixel.

  • Patent number: 8941678
Abstract: A color display system providing reduced observer metameric failure for a set of target observers, comprising an image forming system having narrow-band primaries. A data processing system is used to implement a method for color correcting an input color image having input color values adapted for display on a reference display device having a plurality of input color primaries. A metamerism correction transform is applied to the input color image to determine an output color image having output color values in an output color space appropriate for display on the image forming system. The metamerism correction transform modifies colorimetry associated with the input colors to provide output color values such that an average observer metameric failure is reduced for a distribution of target observers.
