  • Patent number: 11811199
Abstract: A system and method for differentiating between different modes of pulsed electrical discharges via of an amplitude to time (ATC) conversion circuit is described. A bipolar ATC circuit is used to add together the positive and negative portions of an attenuated and filtered signal derived either from the voltage or current of a pulse. Alternatively, a unipolar ATC circuit may be employed. The resulting processed signal is compared against a reference voltage to generate an output signal that is active for the amount of time that the processed signal exceeds the reference voltage. Discharge mode is determined based on three factors: did a pulse occur, if a pulse occurred when did the pulse start relative to the original pulse event, and what is the duty cycle of the pulse. Subsequent pulse generated may be controlled accordingly.

The turn-on current sources switch a voltage gradient of a rising edge waveform of a gate voltage of the switching element between a plurality of levels when the switching element is turned on. The turn-on switches drive and control the turn-on current sources. The turn-off current sources switch a voltage gradient of a falling edge waveform of the gate voltage between a plurality of levels when the switching element is turned off. The turn-off switches drive and control the turn-off current sources.

Abstract: Examples relate to a method and implementations of general illumination light emitters, an image display device and an image diffuser in a luminaire. The image display device is configured to output an image having a reduced, or first, pixel image fill factor and, as a result, might appear pixelated. To mitigate the pixelation, the image diffuser has a predetermined image diffusion angle and is a predetermined distance from the image display device. The image diffuser outputs an image having a second image pixel fill factor that is greater than the first image pixel fill factor. The appearance of the outputted image appears to be formed from fuzzy pixels. Characteristics related to the image, device, diffuser, and their arrangement may be optimized to provide the fuzzy pixels. A luminaire may output an image formed of the fuzzy pixels and general illumination lighting to an area.
