As described herein, the viewer is provided with the ability to adjust a delay of one of the components relative to the other component, such that synchronization is achieved. In some variations, a user interface is provided to give the viewer feedback concerning the relative delay between one component and the other.

The audio signal is delayed by setting this delay time in an audio signal processing portion 13, so that the video can synchronize with the audio.

    Abstract: In a method and arrangement for determining time skew for a media sequence being conveyed from a sending party to a receiving party over a transmission path, first and second artificial media sequences (310; 306) are generated and added to individual captured media sequences (308; 304), resulting in a first and a second modified media sequence (308/310; 304/306), before being conveyed. At the receiving party, the modified media sequences (308?/310?; 304?306?) are presented and registered, and the artificial media sequences (310?; 306?) are extracted. The time difference between the extracted artificial media sequences (306?; 310?) is calculated as the time skew. Performing time skew determination by adding artificial media sequences to captured media sequences, extracting the artificial media sequences at the receiving party and comparing them can achieve an accurate determination including delays in the capturing and presentation devices.

Accordingly, it is possible to provide a method for synchronization with maintaining correction of the system clock. When a corrected error is large, gradual correction or reference can provide a system with normal feeling.
