  • Patent number: 8269824
Abstract: An illuminator of an electronic endoscope system is provided with a light emission mechanism that consists of a light source emitting white light as general illumination light and an optical chopper that turns a disc at a revolution speed in front of the light source. The disc consists of transparent glass sectors and filter sectors. Each time the general illumination light passes through the filter sectors, the illuminator emits specific illumination light having different spectral characteristics from those of the general illumination light, so a CCD outputs two kinds of image signals under the general illumination light and the specific illumination light. A spectral image producer produces a spectral image of arbitrary wavelength bands from the two kinds of image signals, whereas a general image producer produces a general image from those image signals captured under the general illumination light.

Abstract: A projection-type 3-D image display includes a light source, a single display element, an image shift member, a projection lens unit, and a screen unit. The display element produces an image using light emitted from the light source. The image shift member time-sequentially shifts the image. The projection lens unit enlarges and projects the time sequentially shifted image. The screen unit includes an image separation unit. The image separation unit separates the time sequentially shifted image into images for a left eye and images for a right eye. The projection-type 3-D image display can realize a 3-D image using a single projector by having the image shift member to sequentially shift the images produced by the display element.

  • Publication number: 20090086016
Abstract: The present disclosure is a novel design of a polarization based stereoscopic display system that efficiently utilizes the optical energy from three primary color solid state light sources of random polarization, combines the three primary colors into a full color beam of a single polarization state to enable passive separation of the two image channels. The high optical energy efficiency is achieved by splitting each primary color light into two orthogonal polarization states. The single polarization state of the combined full color image beam is achieved by employing a spectrally selective light beam combiner or X-cube. By making the optical configuration of sub-module basically identical and sharing a number of optical components among color and image channels, the size and cost is reduced. By compensating the depolarization effect that is introduced by folding mirror(s), the cross talk between the two displayed stereo images is minimized.
