Patent number: 5011274Abstract: This invention relates to an eyeglass frame comprising members, particularly hinge members, which are connected by a screw joint which is protected from becoming loose. The screw joint comprises a single metal part, which consists of a screw, which does not tend to become seized and to become clamped in the relatively movable hinge eyes. Because plastic parts are not required in the joint, the screw may remain installed during soldering work. This is accomplished in that the screw has a conical head portion which tapers with an included angle of 20 to 40 degrees, preferably 30.degree., and when the screw has been screwed into the frame the head of the screw extends in a conical opening in a member of the frame and in said opening defines with said frame member a clearance angle of 1 to 3 degrees and a clearance space axially adjoining the head. In such a joint the screw can firmly be tightened so that the high friction will prevent the screw from becoming loose spontaneously.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1989Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignee: OBE-Werk Ohnmacht & Baumgartner GmbH & Co. Each hinge leaf includes a pin-receiving slot perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the female hinge member and a ramp leading to the slot. A raised surface positioned between each ramp and the connecting wall helps guide a pin along the ramp. The male hinge member includes a hinge ear with a pin extending above and below it. The male hinge member and the female hinge member are brought together by inserting the hinge ear between the hinge leaves, with the pin aligned against the side of the raised surfaces as a guide, and forcing the members together so that the pin travels along the ramps until it is engaged by the pin-receiving slots.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1987Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignee: American Optical CorporationInventor: Arthur J. Patent number: 4787731Abstract: This invention is a reversible eyeglass structure having a ear piece support assembly pivotally connected through a hinge connector assembly to an eyeglass frame assembly. The eyeglass frame assembly resembles a normal eyeglass assembly except that the glass sections and the main frame assembly are extended in parallel planes so that the eyeglass lens can be view through reversed directions and a nose bridge member can be used on a person's nose portion in opposite directions. The ear piece support assembly includes a pair of ear piece support members which are constructed in half sections with exterior surfaces of different colors and/or designs. The ear piece support members are pivoted 180 degrees to effectively present two sets of different appearing eyeglass wear in the one reversible eyeglass structure.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1986Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Inventor: James E. Patent number: 4750828Abstract: The stem device comprises a hollow body having an end and which can be removably associated with a tubular element. Between the body and element, members are provided to afford axial rotation with an elastic return bias acting therebetween. The stem device includes a peg located in an oblique slot for restricting the translatory and rotary movements of the end with respect to the element. The stem device is also effective to be snap-closed and elastically opened to an extra-open angle with respect to the front of a pair of eyeglasses.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1985Date of Patent: June 14, 1988Assignee: Innocente PivettaInventor: Rino Sartor
