  • Patent number: 8599430
Abstract: An image processing device creates reduced image data based on original image data indicative of an original image. The original image is divided into original grids each corresponding to a set of original pixel data. The reduced image is divided into reduced grids each corresponding to a set of reduced pixel data. The image processing device acquires, for each set of reduced pixel data, original pixel data corresponding to the original grid whose part is superposed on the reduced grid corresponding to the each set of reduced pixel data when the reduced image is partially superposed on the original image such that the reduced image is shifted. The reduced pixel data is produced by calculating a weighted average of the original pixel data based on size ratio of the part of original grid superposed on the reduced grid to a size of the reduced grid.

  • Patent number: 8599391
Abstract: A method for printing including receiving, by a printer, a first page image, a second page image, and a selection for enabling media type substitution. The printer identifies a preferred media type and an alternate media type, where the preferred media type and the alternate media type include a common printable area (CPA), and the first page image and the second page image are modified to match a dimension of the CPA. The printer then selects the preferred media type for printing the first page image. The printer receives a message, after receiving the selection enabling media type substitution, associated with the preferred media type after selecting the first media type. The printer then selects the alternate media type in response to the message and the selection enabling media type substitution, and prints the second page image using the alternate media type.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a contact glass having a light control glass part having transmittance changeable by an applied voltage; a scanner part reading an original placed on an original placement surface of the contact glass and outputting image data in a storage part; a projector part projecting image information onto the contact glass from a side opposite to the original placement surface; and a control part controlling the voltage applied to the light controlling glass part. When the scanner part is operated, the control part causes the transmittance of the contact glass to increase and the projector part stops projecting the image information, and when the scanner part is not operated, the control part causes the transmittance of the contact glass to decrease and the projector part projects the image data stored in the storage part onto the contact glass.

  • Patent number: 8553273
Abstract: In the printing device, the image in the print data indicates a part of the original image. The printing unit prints a print image in the printing region on the recording sheets. Each printing region is assigned with at least one of a gluing region and a projecting region. The projecting region is a part of the printing region. The gluing region is on the recording sheet. One of two printing regions corresponding to two image regions partially overlaps with each other is assigned with the gluing region. The remaining printing region is assigned with the projecting region. An image corresponding to the projecting region corresponds to a part of image corresponding to the one of the two printing regions. The printing unit performs borderless printing with the image corresponding to the projecting region running off the recording sheet.

  • Patent number: 8542398
Abstract: In one embodiment, a digitized document, formatted as an image file and representing a scanned original page with a page boundary, is received. An image resolution for the digitized document is identified. A height and width of the page boundary, measured in pixels, is identified. A desired trim size for the digitized document is determined based on a function of the identified page boundary height and width and the image resolution. An available trim size that is closest to the desired trim size is selected for printing of the digitized document, via data indicative of available trim sizes stored in a computer-readable medium.

Abstract: A printing control device includes an input image data acquiring unit, a threshold acquiring unit, a determining unit, and a generating unit. The input image data acquiring unit acquires input image data. The input image data includes a plurality of input pixel data. Each input pixel data has an input value. The determining unit determines, for each input pixel data, a difference related value based on a difference between the input value and a threshold value corresponding to the input value. The generating unit generates print data by generating, for each input pixel data, output pixel data based on the difference related value. The output pixel data expresses density corresponding to the difference related value.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for allowing a print driver to recognize a paper size that is not supported by the print driver. A printing device informs the print driver (executing on a client device) that an input tray of the printing device supports a particular paper size. Alternatively, the printing device informs the print driver that a feature and/or option supported by the printing device has changed. The print driver requests the new paper size (or the set of features and options) from the printing device.
