  • Patent number: 11688048
Abstract: Methods and systems for blending line image data streams from a film scanner are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is provided including receiving multiple data streams from line scan sensors. An overlap position may then be initially selected, which forms an overlap position between two of the data streams. A difference measure may then be calculated between the two data streams within the overlap area. The overlap positions may then be iteratively altered between a plurality of overlap positions, and additional difference measures may be computed for each overlap position. A blending position may then be selected from the plurality of overlap positions, which may correspond to the overlap position with the smallest difference measure. The data streams may then be blended at the selected blending position.

  • Patent number: 11669942
Abstract: A method and apparatus for image processing. A de-warping circuit is configured to retrieve, in an ordered sequence, a plurality of de-warping matrices for remapping pixels of a first image from a distorted image space to a corrected image space, where the first image depicts a scene in the distorted image space. The de-warping circuit reads, into a memory buffer, blocks of pixels of the first image based at least in part on the order of the de-warping matrices and generates a plurality of image tiles based on the blocks of pixels of the first image. Each of the image tiles is interpolated from one or more of the retrieved blocks using a respective one of the de-warping matrices. The de-warping circuit writes the plurality of image tiles to an external memory to produce a second image depicting the scene in the corrected image space.

  • Patent number: 11449974
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for generating modified digital images by utilizing a patch match algorithm to generate nearest neighbor fields for a second digital image based on a nearest neighbor field associated with a first digital image. For example, the disclosed systems can identify a nearest neighbor field associated with a first digital image of a first resolution. Based on the nearest neighbor field of the first digital image, the disclosed systems can utilize a patch match algorithm to generate a nearest neighbor field for a second digital image of a second resolution larger than the first resolution. The disclosed systems can further generate a modified digital image by filling a target region of the second digital image utilizing the generated nearest neighbor field.

Abstract: A process and system to transform a digital photograph of a text document into a scan-quality image is disclosed. By extracting the document text from the image, and analyzing visual clues from the text, a grid is constructed over the image representing the distortions in the image. Transforming the image to straighten this grid removes distortions introduced by the camera image-capture process. Variations in lighting, the extraction of text line information, and the modeling of curved lines in the image may be corrected.

Abstract: The invention allows an online print engine to enhance a printing quality and a user experience of an online printing system. The invention may be used for photo books, photo cards, photo calendars, and in other online print situations. One embodiment is a print engine residing on and executable from a digital medium, the print engine integrated with a graphical user interface (GUI) for creating and editing photo-based projects over a data network, the print engine including a communications link to a print server and a printer connected to the data network, a print queue for queuing printing tasks, and an effects filter size-reduction module. The print engine automatically senses via the effects filter size-reduction module if the area of a filter is greater than a pre-defined threshold, and if so produces a smaller filter embedded into a bitmap image, after which the bitmap image is scaled back up to the filters original size.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system configured to operate with a hand-held camera. The hand-held camera is configured to operate with a film cartridge. The film cartridge defines an opening to enable entry of a driven film-feeding member into engagement with film edge perforations, the film-feeding member being driven by the camera for movement in a rectilinear path whereby successive film edge perforations are engaged so as to intermittently move the film past the exposure aperture. The system comprises a housing configured to be moveably engageable with the camera, in place of the film cartridge; a detector configured to generate a first signal in response to detecting a movement of the film-feeding member; and circuitry configured to write signals from an image sensor into the memory, according to an addressing mechanism that is responsive to the first signal.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for correcting color in a portable image projector in consideration of an effect of a background color when the portable image projector projects images. The method corrects the effect of the background color to be projected, using color constancy technique, and thereby represents high-quality image which can be projected on a white screen. The method includes the steps of determining if a background color exists on a projection screen using a portable camera, converting the size of a mask image in order to connect a spatial position of an original image and an image photographed by a camera, correcting brightness of the mask image in order to correct non-homogeneity of the brightness of the projected image due to the distribution of different brightness values of the background color, and correcting the background color in order to correct color distortion of the image projected in different colors on the background color.

Abstract: When trimming is performed on a photograph image obtained by a photography apparatus, a plurality of trimming range candidates is set by analyzing the photograph image. A judgment is made as to whether the zoom magnification ratio of the photography apparatus during photography corresponds to a predetermined limit, the limit being a maximum zoom magnification ratio or a minimum zoom magnification ratio that can be set by the photography apparatus. A trimming range is set by selecting one of the plurality of trimming range candidates. If the zoom magnification ratio is judged to be a magnification ratio corresponding to the predetermined limit, a trimming range candidate that has a smaller or larger range than that of a trimming range candidate selected if the zoom magnification ratio is judged to be a magnification ratio that does not correspond to the predetermined limit is selected as the trimming range.
