Patent number: 6765686Abstract: Image data is stored on a removable external card together with previous printing information relating to printing of this image data. Accordingly, when printing identical with that executed previously is carried out, the need to make printing settings again is eliminated by performing printing based upon the stored information. By further storing printing paper information in the external card, information regarding a new type of printing paper can be registered in an image processing apparatus with ease. This makes it possible for the apparatus to print properly even on a new type of paper.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hiroshi Maruoka

Publication number: 20040114193Abstract: In the full-length image capture mode, a background of a captured image includes not only a background curtain but also the periphery. The image to be edited from multiple captured images is selected, and the brightness of the image is adjusted. After that, a range to be edited of the background is calculated from the background of the image through Chromakey processing. Then, the color corresponding to the degree of the brightness of the adjusted image is obtained from the stored colors of the background curtain. The calculated editing range of the background is then converted with the obtained color. As a result, the boundary of the background curtain and the periphery becomes inconspicuous, and the image having a good-looking background can be provided easily.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2003Publication date: June 17, 2004Inventors: Katsuyuki Inage, Tetsuya Miwa

Publication number: 20030107774Abstract: The invention relates to a display device which comprises a printed replication of a plurality of, in the embodiment, ceramic floor tiles. The array is digitally replicated using a digital camera to provide a visual image which is a printed, four colour, replica of the floor tiles. The replica, in A5 size on a foldable substrate such as paper, can be folded to A4 and taken by a prospective purchaser to a point of intended use, such as a home, where the visual effect of the tiles can be seen without the need to take an actual tile to the point of use.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2002Publication date: June 12, 2003Inventor: Jeremy Graham Scott

Patent number: 6577378Abstract: An apparatus and method for compensating for light falloff in a film master frame of a photographic image. A masking unit is positioned between the master frame and copy material in an optical printer. The masking unit may be an LCD panel. A controller calculates a light falloff compensation function to produce a light falloff correction parameter that is used to control the transmittance values of a plurality of pixels in the masking unit. When a photographic copy is made, the masking function serves to counteract light falloff that existed in the master frame to produce a copy with reduced effect from light falloff. Control and selection of the light falloff compensation function can be based on a number of factors related to the camera type, lens type, film type, flash type, and other factors that created the light falloff on the master frame. In addition, one or more of the master frames from a roll of film may be scanned to generate data to drive the light falloff compensation function.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2000Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Andrew C. Publication number: 20030103234Abstract: Provided is photo retouching software which is easy for photo studio personnel to use. Upon opening photo image(s), special photo retoucher 11 converts photo image data thereof to working color space image data. At such time(s), if working ICC profile(s) is/are set which is/are different from ICC profile(s) previously embedded in such photo image file(s), color perceptual matching is carried out on the photo image data thereof based on such embedded ICC profile(s) and working ICC profile(s) when such photo image file(s) is/are opened. Furthermore, when such photo image(s) is/are displayed at monitor(s), such image data is converted to monitor color space image data through color matching using working ICC profile(s) and monitor ICC profile(s).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2002Publication date: June 5, 2003Applicant: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventors: Nobuhisa Takabayashi, Masaru Hoshino, Atsushi Hatta

Publication number: 20030103249Abstract: In a method for electronic image rectification in pixel-by-pixel scanning of a substrate (2) by means of a bundled electromagnetic beam, the pixels (7) are read out one after the other in readout intervals (R) of constant predetermined duration. In order to improve image quality, the deviation between a reference scanning movement and an actual scanning movement carried out on the reference substrate (S0) is initially determined in a calibration process, for example, by means of a reference substrate (S0) with a known geometric surface structure. Depending on this deviation, a delay interval Dn(n=0 . . . N) is determined for a pixel (7) and the start of the readout interval (R) of this pixel (7) or of the subsequent pixel is delayed by this delay interval Dn. The information about the delay interval (Dn) is stored.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2002Publication date: June 5, 2003Inventors: Thomas Hartmann, Gerhard Doering

Publication number: 20030099001Abstract: An image processing system which appropriately performs image processing on an image picturized by an image pick-up apparatus. The image processing system includes an image pick-up apparatus and an image processing apparatus. The image pick-up apparatus includes an image pick-up unit which picturizes an image of a subject, an image processing unit which performs image processing, a storing unit which stores processing level of the image processing in association with the image, the image processing being performed by the image processing unit, and an output unit which outputs the image and the processing level in association with the image, to the image processing apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2002Publication date: May 29, 2003Applicant: FUJI PHOTO FILM CO., LTD.Inventors: Mikio Watanabe, Hisayoshi Tsubaki, Kazuhiko Takemura
