Patent number: 7583424Abstract: A hologram information reproducing device is described which can reproduce information from a recording medium on which hologram information is recorded, and which can be downsized. In one aspect, when light from a light source is emitted, the light is converted into parallel reference light, by a lens of an optical system. A mirror changes the orientation of the reference light so that it is oriented obliquely downward towards a recording medium. More specifically, as viewed from the top, the mirror changes a path of the light from the light source unit by approximately 90 degrees. In addition, as viewed from the side, the mirror changes the path of the light from the light source unit downward by approximately 45 degrees. Since an interference pattern recorded on the recording medium is a Bragg grating, when the reference light illuminates a recording area of the recording medium, a reproduction light is obtained by Bragg diffraction.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2007Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: Alps Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinji Mitsuya, Naoyuki Tokuchi, Yoshihiro Someno, Yuichi Umeda

Patent number: 7532373Abstract: The pitch of light beam spots on a light receiving surface of an address detector upon search of information recorded on a holographic recording medium is decreased to reduce a distance between the holographic recording medium and the address detector. In a holographic recording and reproducing apparatus 10, a reference beam having an elliptical beam shape transformed by a beam shaping optical system 30 and an object beam having an unchanged circular shape are projected onto a holographic recording medium 20 so that interference fringes are allowed to be formed only within the elliptical shape. Therefore, even when the distance of an address detector 28 from the holographic recording medium 20 is reduced, crosstalk is prevented between array-shaped two-dimensional photodetectors 28A, 28B, 28C, and so on constituting the address detector 28.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2004Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Assignee: TDK CorporationInventors: Takuya Tsukagoshi, Jiro Yoshinari, Hideaki Miura, Tetsuro Mizushima

Publication number: 20090103153Abstract: A method of holographically recording and reading information is disclosed. The method includes: recording information in a holographic recording medium by irradiating the holographic recording medium with a laser beam, wherein a transverse sectional area of the laser beam is divided into a central area for a signal beam and a ring-shaped area for a reference beam, the ring-shaped area surrounding the central area with a predetermined gap; and reading out the information from the holographic recording medium by irradiating the holographic recording medium with a ring-shaped readout beam having an area greater than that of the reference beam in at least one of directions inward of an inner diameter thereof and outward of an outer diameter thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2008Publication date: April 23, 2009Applicant: FUJIFILM CorporationInventors: Yoshihisa Usami, Hiroshi Arai

Publication number: 20090046337Abstract: A method of recording a plurality of holographic images in a holographic media, comprising recording a sequence of multiplexed holograms in a selected storage location in the holographic recording media, each hologram having a respective interbeam angle. The interbeam angle increases for each subsequently recorded hologram to compensate for a variable shrinkage of the holographic media during recording. The multiplexed holograms recorded at the selected storage location are partially or fully overlapped. During reading the recorded holograms, a reference beam is directed at a selected storage location in the holographic recording media at a sequence of incidence angles, each incidence angle being adjusted by a respective adjustment angle. The adjustment angles can be substantially equal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2008Publication date: February 19, 2009Applicant: STX Aprilis, Inc.Inventor: David A. Waldman

Publication number: 20090046336Abstract: A multiplexed holographic recording apparatus of the present invention records multiplexed holograms in a plurality of recording regions that are formed on a holographic recording medium. In particular, the apparatus first records a predetermined number of multiplexed holograms in each of the recording regions formed in a predetermined range or an overall range of the holographic recording medium through holographic recording performed N times, and then performs the (N+1)th holographic recording in each recording region formed in the predetermined range or the overall range. When n other recording regions (where n=0, 1, 2, . . . ) are superimposed on each recording region formed on the holographic recording medium, a difference in the degree of multiplexing between the recording regions formed in the predetermined range or the overall range of the holographic recording medium does not exceed a predetermined value of n+1.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2006Publication date: February 19, 2009Inventors: Tomoya Sugita, Ken'ichi Kasazumi

Patent number: 7479354Abstract: The hologram recording sheet according to the invention is made up of a base film and hologram sensitive materials sensitive to different wavelength regions formed therein in a desired pattern, or a film and at least two hologram recording sensitive materials sensitive to different wavelength regions laminated on the film with a transparent plastic spacer layer located therebetween, thereby enabling the required diffraction light wavelengths to be recorded on the required sites without producing unnecessary interference fringes. At least two hologram recording sensitive materials sensitive to different wavelength regions are formed on different sites on a film in dotted or striped configuration, the size of which is up to 200 mm or at least twice as large as the thickness of the sensitive material layers, thereby enabling regions diffracting light of different wavelengths to be formed in the form of independent sets of interference fringes.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2007Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Assignee: Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Ueda, Tsuyoshi Hotta, Yukio Taniguchi, Atsushi Sekiguchi, Hideyuki Iriyama
