Patent number: 5837950Abstract: In a drawer type circuit breaker of the invention, when a first contact is clockwise pivoted by a switching mechanism, the contact tip of the first contact and the contact tip of a second contact are touched, and when the first contact is further clockwise pivoted, the second contact is counterclockwise pivoted against the elastic force of a spring to secure a predetermined contact pressure and a predetermined wiping stroke. A first drawer contact clamps the outer circumferential portion of the first contact and a first external connection terminal together by the elastic force of a spring to establish connection between the first contact and the first external connection terminal. A second drawer contact clamps the outer circumferential portion of the second contact and a second external connection terminal together by the elastic force of another spring to establish connection between the second contact and the second external connection terminal.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1997Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Terasaki Denki Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masao Horikawa

Patent number: 5757260Abstract: Fuses for the potential transformers (PTs) in medium voltage switchgear are mounted in fuse assemblies which are reciprocated within the switchgear enclosure independently of the transformers they protect between a connected position in which the fuse assemblies engage stabs at the rear wall of the enclosure and a retracted position adjacent a door at the front of the enclosure through which the fuses are inserted and removed while the fuse assemblies remain within the enclosure. The fuse assemblies include insulative tubes having first releasable contacts at a distal end which engage the stabs and second releasable contacts which engage fixed contacts connected to the transformers and spaced from the rear wall. The insulative tubes are mounted on a carriage which reciprocates between the connected and retracted positions. An interlock prevents opening of the door except where the carriage is in the retracted position and blocks movement of the carriage with the door open.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1996Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: James E. Patent number: 5532432Abstract: A control unit forms a control center serving as one type of a control panel in an electric power system control system. The control unit accommodates equipments such as a circuit breaker, an electromagnetic switch, a zero-phase current transformer, and an operating transformer, and includes a substantially Z-shaped equipment mounting plate mounted between side plates of the unit to have an intermediate bent portion. The circuit breaker is disposed on a front face of a front mounting portion of the equipment mounting plate, and the current transformer is disposed on a back face thereof. The electromagnetic switch is disposed on a front face of a back mounting portion of the equipment mounting plate, and the thin operating transformer is isolated from other equipments and disposed on a back face thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1995Date of Patent: July 2, 1996Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki KabushikiInventor: Masahiro Ishikawa

Patent number: 5481075Abstract: A motor controller includes an isolation switch having a main power supply terminal and a first bolted pressure contact and a load receptacle having a second bolted pressure contact. The motor controller also includes a drawout unit having a line terminal and a load terminal, the line terminal for engaging the first bolted pressure contact when the drawout unit is in an inserted position and the load terminal for engaging the second bolted pressure contact when the drawout unit is in the inserted position. The drawout unit rests on a drawer which is in turn supported by a pair of sliding rails. A current transformer generates a sensing signal for monitoring purposes. The components are arranged in a compact design which requires significantly less space than conventional designs.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1994Date of Patent: January 2, 1996Assignee: Toshiba International CorporationInventors: John D. Patent number: 5337210Abstract: In a drawout type switch gear, rotation of the lead screw (7) is locked automatically at the connected position and the test position of the drawout/push-in unit (R), symbols or marks for representing these positions are provided on an indicator plate (18), which is driven laterally behind the front panel of the circuit breaker by a cam-rod type motion-direction transforming link (23, 19, 21, 18) and is arranged to be visible through display windows (15c) provided on the front panel (15). The insertion of the detachable handle (111) into a polygonal hole (7a) provided on the front end of the lead screw (7) is Inhibited by a blocking arm (110a), which is interlocked with a lock plate (16) driven by motion of the drawout/push-in unit (R).Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1992Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takayoshi Ishikawa, Shinsaku Yamasaki
