Abstract: A light for a vehicle has a reflector, a light source, a light-permeable disk covering a light outlet opening, the reflector having a central region which surrounds the light source and a lateral region, the central region of the reflector having a lateral opening through which a light emitted by the light source can reach the lateral reflector region, the lateral reflector region having at least in one zone a plurality of stepped reflection profiles, the lateral reflector region having an upper edge and a lower edge, at least one reflection segment arranged near one of the edges so that a light emitted from the light source impinges on the reflection segment through the opening of the central reflection region, the reflection segment having a greater extension than the reflection profile at least in a horizontal direction.

  • Patent number: 5938323
Abstract: A projector light assembly includes a primary reflector having a proximal end and a distal end and a lens positioned distally of the distal end of the reflector. The assembly also includes a shade plate configured to prevent light reflected by a first section of the primary reflector from reaching a first portion of the lens (e.g., a portion of the lens above a horizontal axis of the lens). An auxiliary reflector attached to the shade plate reflects light reflected by a second section of the primary reflector so as to direct the reflected light toward the first portion of the lens.

  • Patent number: 5915831
Abstract: A vehicle headlight assembly includes a snapping engagement between a bezel, a housing and a lens. The snapping engagement positions all three pieces relative to each other during a manufacturing or assembly process. The light bulbs of the headlamp assembly are supported on the internally aimed reflector by bulb retainers that snappingly engage openings in the reflector. The bulbs preferably include housings that bias tab members on the bulb retainers into engagement with the reflector. The reflector is moved within the housing to direct the beam of light from the bulbs. Socket retainers snappingly engage the reflector. Ball members on conventional adjustors are received within the socket retainers so that the adjustors support the reflector within the housing and provide the ability to adjust the angular position of the bulbs and reflector relative to the remainder of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5855430
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp system having optical reflector, lamp capsule, and gasket is disclosed. The vehicle headlamp system uses surfaces formed as part of the optical surface yielding located light source. As a result, the light source is more accurately positioned with respect to the reflector, and a more accurate beam pattern is formed. The lamp capsule is assisted in its location by a spring to force the capsule in proper location. The headlamp system no longer uses an O-ring to provide location, but an improved flat resilient gasket provides a sealing and locking force to maintain proper face to face coupling. The preferred lamp capsule uses a cup to shield light reflected from the press seal. The preferred lamp capsule uses a cup, and pedestal system mounting providing five axes of light source positioning. The preferred lamp capsule uses a clip coupling to join the light source holder to the plastic base.
