  • Patent number: 5433522
Abstract: A hydraulic control device for a closed type kneader, including a sealing surface pressure applying circuit for applying a sealing surface pressure to a sealing device for sealing a rotor accommodated in a kneading chamber, a drop door driving circuit for controlling an opening and closing operation of a drop door for closing a bottom surface of the kneading chamber, and a power circuit for supplying a pressure oil to the sealing surface pressure applying circuit and the drop door driving circuit. The sealing surface pressure applying circuit is connected to a pressure oil supply line in the drop door driving circuit for a closed condition of the drop door. Accordingly, when the application of the sealing surface pressure is unnecessary, that is, when the drop door is opened, the sealing surface pressure is prevented from being applied to the sealing device, thereby extending the life of the sealing device.

  • Patent number: 5232281
Abstract: A water cooled blender door having an inside surface and an outside surface and a tapered edge having a taper away from the inside surface to the outside surface to provide a reduced area of contact for material flowing around the tapered edge which in combination with said water cooling allows condensate to form on the tapered edge to prevent materials from sticking to the blender door. A gap is also provided between the tapered edge and the blender door housing to prevent the build up of sticky matrix materials such as sticky wood particles. The cooling water typically at 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit causes a water condensate to form on the door surface and edge. The water condensate often results from the warm moisture laden air in the blender and prevents sticking of the resin coated particles to the surface and edges of the novel door.

  • Patent number: 4486102
Abstract: A mixing head for multicomponent plastics, especially polyurethane, in whose mixing chamber (2) a hollow piston (7) can be moved to and fro to control the component streams. The hollow piston contains an expulsion piston (8), which is movable independently of the hollow piston, and which can be passed through an outlet tube (3) which adjoins the outlet orifice (4). The end face (12) of the hollow piston forms, together with the mixing chamber wall (11) nearest the sprue, a shearing gap in which the components are mixed. As a result of the design and arrangement of the pistons (7) and (8), good mixing is achievable even under critical conditions, and the mixing chamber is also easily cleaned.

Abstract: Particulate materials are blended in a vessel provided with a plurality of vertically extending conduits therein. The vessel comprises a downwardly converging frustoconically shaped bottom wall which defines the lower region of the vessel. The lower ends of the conduits extend through corresponding openings in the bottom wall and are connected by suitable conduit means with a solids outlet at the open bottom of the bottom wall, an outlet conduit extending downwardly therefrom with a solids flow control valve interposed therein. A recycle conduit extends from the interior of the outlet conduit at a position above the solids flow control valve therein upwardly to a solids hopper positioned above the vessel. A blower is connected to the upper portion of the vessel and applies vacuum thereto and to the recycle conduit for withdrawing particulate materials or solids through the recycle conduit into the hopper.

Abstract: A mixing device for forage and similar product has a rotatable, sloping mixing chamber with its closed rear axial end lower than its open forward axial end. The forward end receives and discharges the forage. Generally linear mixing vanes extend forwardly from adjacent the rear end of the mixing chamber for tumbling the forage during chamber rotation. An axial tubular housing within the mixing chamber encloses a rotatable axial auger, which communicates with the rear end of the mixing chamber to receive forage from the mixing chamber and feed it back toward and out of a forward end of the housing.

Abstract: A reinforced hardened foam lining may be constructed in a particular zone of a well such as a water well, a geothermal well, or an oil well to plug off or contain salt water intrusion or lost circulation by placing a length of perforated pipe in the desired location; placing foam generating components in a foam generating device in the length of perforated pipe; mixing the resin and catalyst (components) forming a mixture of components under pressure which fills the length of perforated pipe, flows through the perforations and fills the voids between the pipe and the side wall of the hole, then swells forming a foam and hardens. The area inside the length of perforated pipe may then be drilled out providing a strong reinforced channel.

  • Patent number: 4382684
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing and dispensing liquid resins which comprises a mixing unit which is a stationary mixer and a dispersing unit which comprises a dispersing plate placed crossing the line of flow head of the stationary mixer and which has at least one perforation for allowing the materials to be mixed to pass therethrough, a first material supply tube having at least one perforation at the end thereof and which is stuck to the front surface of the dispersing plate for allowing a first material to pass therethrough and a second material supply tube which encloses the first material supply tube and conveys the second material. The structure is effective to cause a time-wise mixing function, because a delay or a time-wise deviation is given to the flow speed of a limited portion of the materials to be mixed, resultantly preventing such a defective mixing function as is caused by a potential discrepancy in commencement time of supply of all the materials to be mixed, from occurring.
