A guide slide 4, alternatively attached to the receptacle and the submersible mixer by two connecting elements 13, has two tubular posts 60, 61 that are slidably coupled to the cable sections 7. After lowering the submersible mixer 1 onto the guide slide 4, the connecting elements 13 are detached from the receptacle and attached to the submersible mixer, one after the other, so that the guide slide 4 is firmly anchored to the receptacle until the submersible mixer 1 is secured to the guide slide 4. The guide slide 4, with the submersible mixer 1 secured thereon, is then lowered through the receptacle and onto the two supporting members 10 so that the submersible mixer 1 can conduct operations in the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1992Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: E+M Maschinenbau GmbHInventor: Helmut Sporl

Patent number: 5269603Abstract: Simple, narrow bands are secured to a generally planar platform, and joined together, above the platform, by a tether-attaching bolt. The bolt mounts a lifting eye for a hook and tethering cable. One of the bands and the platform, receive mixer-mounting bolts for replaceably fixing the mixer on the platform. To inhibit unwanted migration of the apparatus across the bottom of a liquid-confining tank or reservoir, the platform has pointed-end feet depending therefrom, and removable weights are set atop the bands, whereat the latter are joined together.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Dominic A. Patent number: 5267790Abstract: The present invention provides a high speed homogenizer which has an adjustable gripping means to grip and hold containers of varying size. This gripping and holding means can be centered or decentered under the homogenizing tool. Decentering a container held by the gripping and holding means tends to minimize or even eliminate vortexing problems. The homogenizer also has electronic means for controlling the speed and time of operation of the homogenizing tool. The electronic control means of the homogenizer can also monitor the temperature of the sample being homogenized and respond to changes in temperature when necessary. The homogenizer can be easily adjusted up and down a vertical support post by a counter weighting mechanism such as a constant force spring.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: SP Industries Limited PartnershipInventors: David T. Patent number: 5201263Abstract: A cooking utensil with a built-in automatic stirring device includes a pot body and a cover which is provided on an open top of the pot body and which confines an enclosed space. A rotary knob is rotatably mounted on the cover and has an axial shaft which extends into the enclosed space. The rotary knob is rotated so as to set a desired stirring method. A gear set is provided inside the enclosed space and rotates with the axial shaft of the rotary knob. A stirring implement has a shaft portion which is rotatably driven by the gear set and which extends into the pot body. The shaft portion has a lower end which is disposed adjacent to a closed bottom of the pot body and which is provided with at least one radially extending stirring blade. A spiral spring is connected to the gear set and is wound when the rotary knob is rotated. The spiral spring gradually unwinds to drive rotatably the gear set and cause axial rotation of the stirring implement for the duration of the stirring period.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1992Date of Patent: April 13, 1993Inventor: Andy C. Patent number: 5167449Abstract: A paddle shaft assembly having adjustable-pitch paddles for use in a magnetic stirring apparatus. The paddle assembly is particularly useful for magnetic stirring apparatus used for suspending cell, or tissue, cultures in a growing medium. The paddle shaft assembly includes an upper support shaft lockable to a lower support shaft for allowing the assembly to be mounted within a magnetic stirring vessel closure. The lower shaft includes a bore for accommodating removable stirring magnets. The paddle shaft assembly further includes removable paddle members having a hollow body sized and configured to be positionable within a 360 degree arc upon end portions of stirring magnets.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1991Date of Patent: December 1, 1992Assignee: Corning IncorporatedInventor: Bruce A. Patent number: 5150968Abstract: A planetary mixer having blades which conduct a planetary motion within a tank. A head vertically movably provided above the tank has a drive shaft extending downwardly. The drive shaft has a rotary body, which is provided with three driven shafts at positions corresponding to the respective apexes of an equilateral triangle. The blade is provided at the leading end of each driven shaft. When the rotary body is rotated by the drive shaft, a planetary gearing causes the three blades to rotate on the respective axes of the driven shafts and to simultaneously revolve them around the drive shaft, so that they conduct the planetary motion.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1991Date of Patent: September 29, 1992Assignee: Inoue Seisakusho (Mfg) Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masakazu Inoue

Patent number: 5150967Abstract: A machine specifically for making milkshakes and malts out of hard ice-cream in sixty seconds or less. The ice-cream and ingredients are placed in a container that can be locked and sealed to the underside of a housing designed especially for that purpose. Inside the housing are two gearmotors--one is used to rotate a shaft and mixing head at a given R.P.M. and torque. This gearmotor, with shaft and mixing head, is positioned vertically above the container and supported between two diametrically opposed rods, in a manner that permits easy vertical movement of the mixing head within the container. A second gearmotor provides the necessary R.P.M. and torque for this vertical movement. Secured to a mounting plate in the upper part of the housing; this second gearmotor, is linked to the first gearmotor by means of a rotor arm and rod member connected to a stud on the first gearmotor.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1991Date of Patent: September 29, 1992Assignees: Jim L.
