  • Patent number: 5411329
Abstract: A large volume cement mixer that is readily mobile and can be set up for use with a concrete batch plant at a given location. The cement mixer is carried on an elongated frame having wheels on one end and a gooseneck connection on the front end for towing purposes. A longitudinally movable carriage is carried on top of the elongated frame and the carriage is adapted to carry a large cement mixer mounted thereon. In operation, the elongate frame is braced in approximately 45.degree. angle attitude as the carriage supports the cement mixer in generally horizontal, rotatable fixture. Hydraulic devices are provided for rotating the cement mixer during the mixing mode of operation and, after completion, the carriage structure is hydraulically controlled to move upward along the elongate frame to a dump position whereupon the cement mixer is rotated forward and the mixed concrete is allowed to fall to a discharge position.

  • Patent number: 4955721
Abstract: A portable apparatus adapted for use in filling chuck holes in paved surfaces with a sulphur-based material that has been heated to a plasticized condition. The apparatus includes an electrically heated furnace in which an auger is mounted for the purpose of moving a sulphur-based material through the furnace at a controlled rate (e.g., about 2 feet per minute), such that the material will be elevated to a temperature of above 305 degrees Farenheit (the melting point of sulphur) to produce a tenacious filler material. The furnace is heated by tubular resistance heaters that are bent in a spiral fashion around a mandrel, so that they may be placed in intimate contact with the exterior of a tube which constitutes the core of the furnace. The furnace is fed by a hopper that is mounted above the entry point for the auger, so that dry material may be fed--by gravity--into the furnace whenever a gate-valve mechanism is opened.

  • Patent number: 4951261
Abstract: Certain improvements are provided to the mechanical aspects of a tilt mixer which include a novel boggy, adjustable roller arrangement on the drum track which produces an improved distribution of the stresses produced by the extremely heavy rotating drum which reduces the wear on both individual rollers and on the track. An unique dual staggered-tooth gear drive is provided having two spaced sets of teeth each addressed by a pair of motor shaft mounted drive gears on each of a pair of flanking motors in which the teeth of the two sets are staggered or offset by one-half of the gear pitch. This produces a tighter, quieter drive which has been found to reduce gear wear. In addition, a unique torque tube system which possess a great deal more strength than previous drum tilt axles is provided to support the pivotal action of the drum thereby enabling the tilt point of the drum to be moved forward toward the discharge end of the mixers.
