Abstract: When kneading kneading materials that include raw rubber and carbon black in a closed-type rubber kneader, the extent of the kneading efficiency of the closed-type rubber kneader is evaluated in accordance with the magnitude of the evaluation index calculated from unit work/total amount of shear by calculating an evaluation index calculated by a calculation device based on a total amount of shear obtained by integrating the shear velocity applied to the kneading materials by a rotor that is being driven to rotate by the rotor drive unit of the kneader over the kneading time, and a unit work obtained by dividing the integrated power obtained by integrating the instantaneous power of the rotor drive unit over the kneading time by the mass of the kneading materials.

Abstract: An adhesive composition contains a block copolymer hot melt adhesive and a vapor releasing vapor corrosion inhibitor mixed with the block copolymer hot melt adhesive, the vapor corrosion inhibitor being in the form of particles suspended in the adhesive composition, the particles preferably having a maximum dimension of less than about 30 microns. One improvement results from inclusion in the adhesive mixture of a titanium and/or zirconium containing coupling agent, either separately or as part of the VCI particles. Another improvement results from blending the adhesive mixture in a continuous process using for example a twin screw extruder. As a result, the adhesive mixture has better uniformity and superior viscosity properties during use.

Abstract: A dough-mixing control device capable of determining dough gluten development is mounted on a dough mixer and has a controller, a power sensor, a temperature sensor, an output module and an operation module. The controller is electrically connected to the power sensor, temperature sensor, output module and operation module. Each parameter and determination condition inputted through the operation module is transmitted to the controller. A dough gluten development determination procedure built in the controller controls temperature and gluten development of mixed dough and performs statistical calculation according to the inputted parameters and determination conditions so as to acquire the optimal gluten development of dough. Accordingly, drawbacks such as high human production cost and unstable dough quality of conventional dough mixing that relies on human experience to determine dough gluten development can be resolved.

  • Patent number: 8697761
Abstract: There are disclosed a regenerated rubber, a method and apparatus for obtaining regenerated rubbers from vulcanized crumb rubber, such as rubber from scrap. The apparatus is a thermokinetic mixer having the particularity to have an air tight stationary chamber with inner non-uniform surface. The method comprises the steps of raising the speed of the rotor shaft in order to increase a temperature of a mixture made of vulcanized crumb rubber and a lubricant, such as oil, until a devulcanizing temperature is reached; and reducing the temperature of the mixture to a lower temperature during a second period of time. The method of the invention is environmentally friendly or “green”, since the regeneration method does not use chemicals, includes a shorter period of treatment at higher temperature avoiding the risks of rubber cracking and spontaneous combustion, and further allowing mass-production of regenerated rubber with lower energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 5564829
Abstract: A disposable sterile plastic bag is proposed for holding samples in blenders during the mixing thereof comprises a two-ply sheet flexible material integrally joined at opposed side edges thereof and joined at the upper and lower ends thereof respectively by upper and lower heat seals with a sealed sample receiving chamber being defined between the two plastic sheets inwardly of the bag's side edges and upper and lower seals. Inwardly of the upper seal, there is defined a tear off line transversally across the two sheets and parallelly to the upper seal thereby forming a detachable strip outwardly of the tear off line. When the sample is ready to be introduced in the bag, the strip is removed from the bag by pulling it so as to cause rupture of the two sheets at the tear off line. The bag's chamber is thus sterile when the sample is introduced therein and the bag and its contents can then be inserted in the blender.

  • Patent number: 5335992
Abstract: New apparatus and methods are provided for the uniform mixing and dispersion of highly viscous flowable pastes, such apparatus comprising a body with a flow passage that is kept full of the material by pumping it under pressure. The passage is of constant flow cross-sectional area along its operative length and the ratio of its dimensions at right angles to one another changes cyclically and repeatedly along its length between a lower value and a higher value. In each stage each increase in ratio produces spreading deformation of the material from a compact mass to a thin sheet moving between closely spaced passage surfaces, and viscous shear in the material, while each decrease returns the moving material to a compact mass; the passage preferably has from 10 to 25 stages. Preferably, a rotatable core member extends through the passage so that it is annular, its rotation increasing the shear in the material above a minimum required for rheological plastic flow to facilitate the flow through the passage.
