Roll Couple And Scraper Patents (Class 366/71)
  • Patent number: 10961005
Abstract: Disclosed is a packaging film perforating system used in commercially available, horizontal, form, fill and seal packaging machines. The packing film perforating system is attached to a packaging machine via a mounting module. The system is designed to create perforation lines in the packaging film, housing pre-packaged product, being moved by a conveying chain between various functional stations located on said packaging machine. The perforating system is positioned as the last automated station of the packaging machine, and is typically preceded by a plurality of other automated stations designed to fully complete the packaging process. The stations preceding the location of the perforation system may include stations designed to feed both the bottom and the top layers of the packaging film, product fill station, and both the bottom and the top package forming stations.

Abstract: A rotating stirring device for generating substantially narrow distribution of energy dissipation rate and avoiding presence of Taylor vortices is disclosed. The device includes an outer member (1) such as a cylinder with cross-section of circular shape and an inner member (2) with cross-section of equilateral or inequilateral polygon shape with curved cusps. The inner member is preferably concentrically placed within the outer cylinder and rotates. Such device is particularly advantageous as a reactor or mixer for processes where chemical and physical properties are sensitive to the variations in the shear rate and for processes that involve fragile components. The device can be also used to replace Taylor Couette device for the purposes of improving mass transfer and of avoiding separate of components in the gap in the case of presence of differences in density among components.

  • Patent number: 7354187
Abstract: A rubber kneading machine obviates an operator having to touch rubber on a rotating roll surface to perform a rubber kneading operation, permits unattended operation, is intrinsically safe, improves a rubber kneading process productivity, secures stable quality of kneaded rubber, and allows a closed rubber supplying mechanism to be easily opened and exposed for easy cleaning. The rubber kneading machine includes two horizontal rolls closely disposed vertically, decelerators and variable speed motors rotating the rolls at different speeds, and a screw extruder supplying a rubber lump fed into a hopper at a proximal end to the rolls. A rubber circulating mechanism constructed mainly of a scraper and a belt conveyor, or a belt conveyor above the upper roll, feeds a rubber sheet, which has left the rolls, to the hopper. A mechanism releasing the screw extruder makes it possible to open and expose closed portions to facilitate cleaning.

  • Patent number: 7160099
Abstract: The invention relates to a feed roll assembly for reducing leakage of an elastomeric material in a feed section of an extruder machine. A shell, feed roll seal plates, and feed roll end plates are used to reduce the leakage of elastomeric material. Elastomeric material is redirected back to the feed section through the use of a varying bore diameter of the shell and grooves contained in both the feed roll seal plates and the feed roll end plates. The shell, feed roll seal plates, feed roll end plates, and a feed roll scraper are each coated with a solid, dry lubricant coating to reduce friction. The invention provides desirable feedback of overflow elastomeric material and permits a retrofitting of the feed roll assembly to existing extruder machines.

  • Patent number: 5904418
Abstract: A sheet-testing apparatus including kneading rolls, a frame feeder, sheet applicator, foreign material detector, a frame with a light transparent window and a cutter for cutting a sheet. A sheet-testing sample-making apparatus has a cluster of kneading rolls, frame feeder, and sheet applicator. A sheet thickness detection apparatus outputs an electric signal to a memory. A kneading apparatus has a pair of heating rolls separated by a gap. The directions and speeds of rotations of the rolls are adjustable. A sensor detects the gap and a bank sensor detects the condition of a bank in the gap. The distance between the rolls, their temperatures, rotations, and speeds are automatically controlled. A pair of blades peel a sheet from the sheet-winding roll. Material dropped through the gap between the heating rolls is returned to a point above the gap. A cutting device has a length of wire sprung onto a rolled sheet to sever the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4889429
Abstract: An apparatus and method for continuously making a mixture of viscous material with solid material segments, which utilizes a pair of spaced mixing rolls (26, 28) for dragging the viscous material (42, 44) and the solid material segments (66, 68) into a gap (34) between the mixing rolls to permit the material to be mixed together to form an impregnated compound (82). Each roll has a hopper (36, 38) having an opening (54) and an associated coating blade (46,48) for depositing of layer (42, 44) of desired thickness of the viscous material on the mixing rolls. A solid material cutter (70, 72) is located above and associated with each mixing roller, to provide distinct stream (66, 68) of solid material segments in a uniform rainfall onto the layers of viscous material as the layers emerge from the coating blades. Both the thickness of the viscous layer applied to the rolls and the gap between the rolls are adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of recipes and to produce a variety of useful compounds.

  • Patent number: 4718770
Abstract: A screw extruder of the elastomeric material type includes a feed section with a power driven feed roll in a feed box running adjacent and counter the rotation of the screw. The roll is journaled for rotation on a frame which may easily be moved to and from an operative and an open position to facilitate service or cleaning. A quick release mechanism secures and releases the feed roll in the operative position. The roll frame is mounted for easy movement on horizontally extending guide rods which may extend and be journaled for sliding movement over or under the feed section. The feed box includes an insert which is adjustable and incorporates roll end lip seals and also a separately adjustable roll face scraper or seal thereby to reduce clearances as wear occurs without disturbing the proper relationship of such seals.
