  • Patent number: 8737335
Abstract: A reference signal transmission scheduling device, which performs scheduling on uplink transmission of a reference signal (SRS) from a mobile terminal to a base station in a wireless communication system, is designed to appropriately allocate an SRS transmission resource to the mobile terminal in consideration of the current circumstances of the mobile terminal. Herein, the maximum value of an SRS bandwidth is calculated based on the maximum transmission-enabled power of the mobile terminal, while the minimum value of the SRS bandwidth is calculated based on the mobility of the mobile terminal. Additionally, the SRS bandwidth, which is actually used by the mobile terminal subjected to SRS transmission resource allocation, is determined within the range between the maximum value and the minimum value of the SRS bandwidth.

Abstract: A method is provided a wireless system for reliably transmitting context information in robust header compression at low signal energies. More particularly, the methodology of the invention provides an elongated virtual Transmission Time Interval (Super TTI) for the first few (in particular, the first) non-compressed packet (that includes upper layer headers) of a packet stream transmitted using ROHC compression. Improved reception reliability for the uncompressed packet, in particular to decode the headers, results by application to the Super TTI of a combination of TTI Bundling techniques, RLC segmentation and association with multiple HARQ processes and use of enough HARQ rounds.

The terminal may communicate with the serving base station in the reserved time intervals and may avoid high interference that may desensitize a receiver at the terminal. In one design, the terminal may measure received power of base stations and may report its interference condition. The serving base station may receive a report from the terminal, determine that the terminal is observing high interference, and send a reservation request to the interfering base station to reserve time intervals. The interfering base station may grant the request and return a response. The serving base station may thereafter communicate with the terminal in the reserved time intervals.

  • Patent number: 8649319
Abstract: Apparatus and method for allocating communication resources in a data radio communication system, such as an MAIO (Mobile Allocation Index Offset) communication system, e.g., a communication system that provides for Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution (EDGE) data services. A multi-carrier radio resource control logic element includes an analyzer that analyzes communication resource requirements to carry out a communication service. A resource allocator allocates communication resources to be used by which to communicate the data. The communication resources are allocated across a plurality of radio carriers such that resources are allocated, during a particular time period, upon a single radio carrier of the plurality of radio carriers.

  • Patent number: 8644269
Abstract: A network includes an access point using a first protocol and a station using both the first protocol and a second protocol. The station uses the first protocol before a first threshold and a second protocol after the first threshold. A first duration between the second threshold and the first threshold is at least of sufficient length for the station to receive one data packet from the access point and send an acknowledgment. The station transmits to the access point a current clear-to-send packet at a current time during a current exchange based on success or failure of a previous exchange during which a previous clear-to-send packet was transmitted to the access point at a previous time.

  • Patent number: 8644291
Abstract: In directional antennas, spatial reuse involves enabling two communications to occur on the same link at the same time. The communications may be in the same or opposite directions. If no link of sufficient bandwidth is available that does not already have an active communication, a link with an active communication of sufficient bandwidth is located. Then an antenna training sequence may be implemented. A check determines whether the antenna training sequence was successful. If there was interference during the antenna training sequence, then the spatial reuse is not permitted. Otherwise, spatial reuse may be permitted.

  • Patent number: 8644292
Abstract: Embodiments describe a varied transmission time interval in wireless communication system. According to some embodiments is a method for assigning a transmission time interval. The method can include measuring a channel condition and/or a data rate of packet communicated by at least one wireless device. Based in part on the data rate and/or channel condition information, a determination can be made whether to schedule a long transmission time interval or a short transmission time interval to the packet. A long transmission time interval can be scheduled if the channel condition is poor and/or there is a low data rate. A short transmission time interval can be scheduled if the channel condition is good and/or the data rate is high or fast. The method can be repeated for multiple wireless devices. Also included is an alternative interlacing structure that supports both long transmission time intervals and short transmission time intervals.

Abstract: A Method for controlling an establishment or a modification of a connection according to a packet based transmission scheme in a communication network (100) comprising a plurality of nodes (102-112) is proposed. The connection (113) to be established or modified comprises or utilizes one or more entities potentially causing a transmission delay for a transmission over the connection. An indicator indicating an expected accumulated delay for the connection (124) is sent between nodes controlling the connection and one of the nodes controlling the connection checks the indicator when it performs a decision on the packetisation time to be applied for the connection.

  • Patent number: 8634840
Abstract: A telecommunication system comprises a radio network controller (RNC), and a Node-B (NB) for enabling wireless communication with a user terminal (UE). The RNC establishes an enhanced dedicated transport channel (E-DCH) which enables uplink data traffic with a determined maximum data rate from the user terminal (UE) to the NB. The RNC further establishes a high speed DL shared channel (HS-DSCH) which enables downlink data traffic with a determined maximum data rate from the NB to the user terminal. The NB comprises a HSDPA scheduler (HS-S) scheduling the data rate for the DL data traffic via the HS-DSCH and a EUL scheduler (EUL-S) scheduling the maximum data rate for the UL data traffic via the E-DCH. The NB exchanges data rate information between the HS-S and the EUL-S. Furthermore, the NB monitors the quotient (Q) between DL data rate and the UL data rate.
