  • Patent number: 8599852
Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for distributing service domain reachability information across domain boundaries, thereby allowing domain management systems to determine routing for cross-domain services even when the domains have different technologies or administrators. A Service Domain Manager within each domain advertises to neighbouring domains which services it supports. A domain which receives such advertisements forwards the advertisement on to other domains. Each SDM builds a routing information table which specifies the service, the domain, the next hop, and optionally user defined metrics. The routing information table does not include end-point addresses, in order to keep the size of the table manageable. In this way, the NMS of each domain obtains an end-to-end view of service routes.

The unique signature can then be used to generate signatures or shared secrets for controlling the transfer of data between devices. The motion detection device is capable of detecting sudden movement such as the tapping of the two computing devices together, tapping a stack of computing devices, tossing a computing device in the air. The system may optionally include an intermediary device such as a server for transferring the documents or files between computing devices such that only a small decryption key and file pointer is needed to share records between computing devices.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a packet via high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) are disclosed. At least one HSDPA medium access control (MAC-hs) service data unit (SDU) is segmented into a plurality of segments. MAC-hs protocol data units (PDUs) are generated from the segments wherein each MAC-hs PDU includes at least one segment. Each MAC-hs PDU may include one segment from a single MAC-hs SDU. The size of the segments may match to the size of the MAC-hs PDUs minus the size of the header of the MAC-hs PDU. The sizes of the segments may be determined based on the number of segments to which the MAC-hs SDU is segmented. Alternatively, each MAC-hs PDU may include a combination of segments from a plurality of MAC-hs SDUs or a combination of at least one segment from one MAC-hs SDU and at least one entire MAC-hs SDU.

  • Patent number: 7411985
Abstract: A low complexity packet loss concealment method for use in voice-over-IP speech transmission calculates a cross-correlation of previous speech data to estimate the pitch period of the previous speech when speech frames have been lost. A tap interval used to calculate the cross-correlation is dynamically adapted, thereby reducing the computational complexity of the process. In addition, the pitch period estimation is bypassed completely when it is determined not to be necessary, as a result of the speech being unvoiced or silence. A waveform “bending” operation is performed into the current frame without inserting any algorithmic delay into each frame.

  • Patent number: 7376209
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for scaling demodulated data symbols contained in a packet to generate scaled log-likelihood ratios for Turbo decoding are disclosed. A packet consists of one or more subpackets depending on the type of packet. Each subpacket is identified by a subpacket identification number. The payload size of the packet and the subpacket identification number may be determined by decoding a reverse rate indicator (RRI) channel. A scale factor which is associated with a specific subpacket identification number and a specific payload size results in a performance measure that is closest to an expected performance measure. The scale factor is used for scaling the demodulated data symbols to generate scaled log-likelihood ratios for Turbo decoding.
