Abstract: An image forming system includes: an image-data transmission unit that transmits image data; and an image-data receiving unit that receives the image data, the image-data transmission unit being connected to the image-data receiving unit through a transmission path having lanes used for a color machine, at the time of image data transmission, the image-data transmission unit adding an error check code to image data, and transmitting the image data to the image-data receiving unit, in a first unit of the image data, the image-data receiving unit calculating an error check code in the first unit, comparing the calculated error check code with the error check code transmitted, and when the calculated error check code disagrees with the error check code transmitted, transmitting an error to the image-data transmission unit, and when the image-data transmission unit receives the error, the image-data transmission unit retransmitting image data corresponding to the error.

Abstract: A transmitting device, a receiving device, and a method for transmitting and a method for receiving data streams, in particular video streams, are described. The transmitting device for data streams, in particular video data, has at least one unit. This at least one unit is designed for subdividing the data streams into sections, the sections into packets, and for providing the sections in a sequence that is the reverse of an original sequence and the packets in an original sequence.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer-accessible storage media for shadowing data stored on a local store to a remote store provided by a service provider. A gateway may be configured as a shadowing gateway on a customer network in response to receiving configuration information. The shadowing gateway may receive reads and writes to the local store. The gateway passes the requests to the local store, and also uploads write data indicated by the writes to the service provider to update a snapshot of the local store maintained by the service provider on the remote store. The write data may be buffered to a write log for uploading, and may be uploaded as blocks according to a block storage format used by the service provider. The shadowing process may be transparent to processes on the customer network. The shadowed data may be used to recover data on the local store.

Abstract: A method, system, and media are provided for delivery of content from a communication device. A temporal shifting server enables delivery of temporal shifting messages. The temporal shifting server checks conditions associated with a communication network connected to the communication device and determines whether conditions of the communication network support delivery of content stored in a large file. If the communication network can support the large file, the large file is communicated over the communication network to a recipient and a copy may be retained by the temporal shifting server. If the communication network is unable to transmit the large file, the temporal shifting server generates an identifier for the content, transmits the identifier to the communication device, receives a small file that stores a version of the content, and stores the small file.

Abstract: A method of reproducing data from a recording medium, wherein each of the data includes reference time information indicating a reference time and packet information, includes the steps of rearranging the data on a time axis such that a time interval between adjacent data is equal to a difference between respective reference times indicated by the reference time information of the adjacent data, and outputting the rearranged data at an output rate equal to or greater than a data rate of the data. The packet information includes at least video packet information into which a compressed video signal data stream is divided, and audio packet information into which a compressed audio signal data stream is divided.
