Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for managing content replacement in a content modification system, which can be applicable to dynamic advertisement insertion. A media device can provide a first segment of a linear sequence of content segments to a display device. The first segment can include an ending frame adjacent to a start frame of a second segment of the linear sequence of content segments, where the second segment is to be replaced by a replacement segment. Based on a determination that the replacement segment is unavailable, the media device can provide one or more additional copies of the ending frame of the first segment to the display device while the replacement segment to replace the second segment is unavailable.
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a characteristic for media content. A number of entropy slots is determined that is based on the characteristic for the media content. An entropy slot in the media content is where a segment from a first version of the media content or a second version of the media content can be delivered. The method creates the first version of the media content having a first number of segments and creates the second version of the media content having a second number of segments based on the number of entropy slots. The second number of segments that correspond to the number of entropy slots is less than the first number of segments. The first version of the media content and the second version of the media content is output to create different sequences of segments that are attributable to different requests.

Abstract: A method for estimating a signal-to-noise ratio of a received digital radio signal. The estimating method includes a detecting step consisting in recovering a received synchronization symbol contained in the received digital radio signal, and an estimating step configured to determine the signal-to-noise ratio of the received digital radio signal, depending on the difference between a first received synchronization signal and a second received synchronization signal. The first and second received synchronization signals are comprised in the received synchronization symbol.
Abstract: A method of delivering a video sequence in a network, the sequence including a plurality of temporal segments encoded at a plurality of qualities, the method including storing a dataset indicating the relative size of segments of the video stream; computing in dependence on that dataset a time schedule for delivery of the segments, the time schedule indicating a target delivery time for each segment sufficient to deliver all the segments in the sequence in time for decoding and being independent of the encoded quality of each segment; for each segment: setting one or more transmission parameters for the segment in dependence on the target delivery time for the segment and the relative size of the segment; and delivering the segment over the network using the one or more transmission parameters.

Abstract: Disclosed is a multi-reactive video generating method and program that performs various condition playbacks depending on a user's manipulation, based on a video database (e.g., a basic video) in which a general video or a plurality of image frames are stored. According to an embodiment of the inventive concept, various actions (i.e., reactions) may be applied as the multi-reactive video generation file is played with a general video or a combination of a plurality of image frames.
Abstract: A method for transmitting data of multimedia content is provided. A packet including a packet header and a packet payload is identified. The packet payload includes an access unit including media data related to the multimedia content and information related to the access unit. Control information for delivery and consumption of the multimedia content is identified. The identified packet is transmitted. The identified control information is transmitted separately from the packet. The control information includes type information related to content in the multimedia content, discovery information related to the content in the multimedia content, and relationship information related to contents in the multimedia content.
Abstract: Methods and systems of narrowcasting to a service group having one or more one-way set top boxes are shown and disclosed. The method may include receiving encrypted single program transport streams (SPTSs) from an encryptor, and receiving one or more session control signals for the SPTSs from a switched digital video (SDV) control system. The method may additionally include receiving service information (SI) packet identifiers (PIDs) for the SPTSs from a conditional access (CA) system, and updating the SI PIDs based on the one or more session control signals. The method may further include converting the SPTSs to narrowcast multiprogram transport streams (MPTSs) based on the one or more session control signals, and transmitting the narrowcast MPTSs and the updated SI PIDs to a plurality of edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) devices.

Abstract: The technology describes synchronization of writer and reader applications in a streaming data storage system, such as to facilitate a mode switch in which event writers can change event contents being appended to stream segments and event readers can process the event contents according to the new mode. A signal event is generated by a signaler for stream segments to which data event writes are being written, which changes the data writers' writing mode. The data storage system rejects appends of events after the signal that do not correspond to the new writing mode. The data storage system also writes a signal indicator to the segments being read at a location in each segment that is between the events written before the signal and the events written after the signal. Reader applications are synchronized based on encountering the signal indicator so as to appropriately switch to a new processing mode.
