Abstract: Behavior associated with credit misuse is referred to herein as “intentional misuse of credit” (IMOC) behavior and individuals who exhibit IMOC behavior are referred to herein as IMOC individuals. Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer program products for reviewing, on a daily basis, financial-transaction data taken across a plurality of individual consumers, identifying individual consumers whose financial-transaction data indicates IMOC behavior, and flagging those individual consumers as IMOC individuals.

Abstract: A system and method to provide content and call attributes for a destination phone number using a click-to-dial connection includes accepting a query, retrieving links to a document, and searching through cached data using the query to identify relevant or destination number information. If no match is found, the method continues with accessing the document identified by the link for identifying relevant number information and creating a click-to-dial icon to link to the relevant numbers included in the relevant phone number information identified by the query. Next, a popup box for content relevant to the click-to-dial icon and a click feature on the popup box are created to retrieve call destination attributes for viewing by a user. Further, computer instructions create at least one communication connection between two communication devices after viewing call destination attributes.

Abstract: A system and method for producing and transmitting speech messages during voice calls over communication networks is introduced. The system and method for producing and transmitting speech messages during voice calls over communication networks include an advertisement server connected to a communication network. A user uses a calling device to call the advertisement server and record advertisement in his specific voice or voice samples off which an advertisement synthesizer can generate advertisements in the user's specific voice. These advertisements are later played during voice calls between a calling device and a destination device. A billing system is used to log and bill advertisers for the advertisements played.

Abstract: A method and a system for providing commercial information (CI) messages as a ring-back tone (RBT) to a caller in an inter-operator telecommunication system are provided. In the inter-operator telecommunication system, the caller and the callee are registered to different telecommunication service providers. The second telecommunication service provider sends a request to the first telecommunication service provider to provide a CI id associated with a caller profile of the caller. The request is routed through a global broker. An RBT player of the second telecommunication service provider plays the CI message corresponding to the CI id as ring-back tone to the caller.

Abstract: In providing an information assistance service in a call by a user, the context of the call is ascertained. Context information is derived from information exchanges during the call. Inferences as to types of advertisement pertinent to the user location, event, etc. are drawn based on the context information. Pertinent advertisements, which may be further individualized based on personal preferences, are provided to the user at the conclusion of the call, or otherwise transmitted to the user via voicemail, SMS, email, WAP, paging, facsimile, instant messaging, text messaging, picture phone, video phone, etc.

Abstract: A system and method for highlighting telephone numbers that are sponsored by advertisers on electronic content, and directing voice calls to those numbers to the corresponding advertiser. The call advertising system receives parameters of an advertising campaign from an advertiser, including telephone numbers in the campaign and an amount per call that the advertiser is willing to pay. The call advertising system transmits an indication of the advertised telephone numbers to a voice communication system. The voice communication system, upon determining that a campaign number is contained in electronic content, can to indicate to users that a call can be made at a rate reduced from what a user would normally pay in order. When the user calls the number, the voice communications system directs the call to the advertiser. The call advertising system tracks the call so that the advertiser can be charged the per-call amount.

Abstract: A system and method for analyzing information associated with voice calls placed during a telephone number advertising campaign is described. The system receives information characterizing voice calls to advertiser telephone numbers and information from advertisers such as information about the outcome of the voice call (e.g., conversion information). The system correlates the voice call information with the advertiser information and generates reports based on the correlated information. The system can perform or enable the performance of other actions based on the correlated information. For example, the system may modify an ongoing advertising campaign based on an analysis of the correlated information.

An embodiment of the present invention is advantageously implemented as an advanced service in an intelligent telecommunications network. An embodiment of the present invention allows the user to specify an interval for a telephone communication. A telecommunication switch times the communication and when the interval expires, the switch either plays a tone to signal the expiration or disconnects the call. The switch may enforce the interval for calls originating or terminating at the subscriber's phone.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to connect telephone calls and track information about the telephone calls resulting from advertisements for groups of advertisers. In one embodiment, a method includes: determining a geographic area after receiving a telephone call to a first telephone number publicized in an advertisement; determining a telephone number of a first advertiser; and connecting the telephone call to the telephone number of the first advertiser, the first advertiser billed for the advertisement based on telephonic connections made to connect the first advertiser and telephone calls to the first telephone number.

Abstract: The present invention includes a method and software application for providing a promotion to a user on a phone. The software application resides on a user's phone and “listens” for phone numbers dialed by a user. In response to the user dialing a phone number, the software determines whether a promotion or an offer for a promotion should be provided to the user. In response to determining to play or offer to play a promotion to the user, the software application on the phone effectively “intercepts” the call and plays to the user either a promotion or an offer to hear about a promotion prior to placing an outbound voice call. The software application may retrieve the promotion from local memory or may connect with a remote server to download an applicable promotion.

At least one calling party parameter for the calling party device is determined. A user message is selected based on the at least one calling party parameter. Abstract: An interactive voice advertisement exchange presents an interactive voice advertisement to a user of a voice network who is placed on hold. After the user sends a signal response from a user device to a receiving system and is placed on hold, the hold time and a parameter associated with the signal response are received from the receiving system. Using the hold time and the parameter, an interactive voice advertisement is selected from one or more interactive voice advertisements sent by advertisers. The selected interactive voice advertisement includes a voice message and an application that dictates how the user can interact with the voice message. The voice message and the application of the selected voice interactive voice advertisement are sent to the receiving system. The receiving system sends the voice message to the user device and executes the application during a portion of the hold time.

A ring tone delivery system may include an interface operable to receive a calling signal that indicates a request to place a call from a calling party to a communication device of a called party. The system may also include a network node communicatively coupled to the interface. The network node may be operable to determine whether the calling party is able to use a calling party selected ring tone. The network node may also be operable to determine whether the communication device will accept the calling party selected ring tone. The network node sends the calling party selected ring tone to the communication device when the calling party is able to use the calling party selected ring tone and when the communication device will accept the calling party selected ring tone.

The advertiser-broker provides the clearing-house services between many advertisers and many VoIP operators, subsidizing wholly or partially phone calls of users of VoIP operators by showing them streaming video advertisements of advertisers who pay for the calls. With this new business, phone calls get monetized through advertisers while users pay nothing for phone calls, and VoIP operators do not need to incorporate advertisers to their business.

With this end-to-end solution, any information or services available via the web can be delivered through a broadband enabled telephone system. Through the web, each member of a family can build a profile which defines what information and services they want available through the handset. In addition, each handset can be dynamically personalized for any family member. The color screens on the handsets become windows through which an individual can view and interact with a broad range of content and services. The audio channels thus become an extension of the voice based services, such as messaging and voice chat.

Abstract: A process for dynamic routing of customer contacts to service providers includes establishing accounts in a service provider contact system for a plurality of service providers. The plurality of service providers are permitted to bid against one another for providing goods and/or services to a customer. A contact list is created of service providers ranked from a lowest bidder service provider to a highest bidder service provider. A contact is received from a customer and routed from the customer to the lowest bidder service provider on the contact list. The service provider account receiving the contact and fulfilling the transaction is credited the amount bid by the service provider.

Abstract: A management system for managing a short message service (SMS) aggregation platform and providing advertising content to mobile communication device customers is provided. The management system comprises a carrier connection interface, a messaging application program interface (API), user and sponsor databases, and logic. The carrier connection interface is configured to receive a mobile originated (MO) communication from at least one short message service center (SMSC). The API is configured to receive a MO communication from the carrier connection interface. The user database communicates with the messaging API and includes opt-in destination addresses defining an opt-in user list. The sponsor database also communicates with the messaging API. The sponsor database includes at least one sponsor account. At least one opt-in destination address in the opt-in user list and at least one sponsor communication is associated with each of the at least one sponsor accounts.

After the advertising announcement is completed, the directory assistance call is processed as usual. The selection criteria can include the use of SIC codes.

Abstract: A telecommunication appliance serves a large user base via an interface to a universal registration database having access to a set of transport mediums applicable to each user. A media database operates in conjunction with the appliance for identifying the user and providing targeted media to the user during a connection interval commonly referred to as the “ringback” period while a connection supporting the requested communication is completed. The universal identifier indexes alternate transport mediums available to the user based on entries in the universal database, and determines a lower cost (or no cost) transport. In lieu of the convention ringback, the initiating user receives targeted media referenced from the media database and responds to it while the communication is completed. The targeted media is provided as a fee based service to media provides (advertisers), therefore injecting revenue for supporting the service without requiring a fee from the invoking users.

Abstract: A directory advertising system includes a user interface module, a database, and a control module. The user interface module displays a special telephone number for an advertiser in a directory advertisement. The database stores the directory advertisement, the special telephone number, and a maximum amount to be charged to the advertiser. The control module decrements the amount stored in the database when the special telephone number is dialed and deactivates the special telephone number when the amount reaches a predetermined level.

Abstract: Voicemail systems and methods can provide a user with means for receiving categorized messages from parties. The categories can be independent of the intended recipients of the messages, such that multiple users can receive the same message. A user can subscribe to receive categorized messages within selected categories or from selected parties. A registered party, including a merchant, an organization, a government agency and/or another party, can input messages to selected categories and can input distribution parameters for the messages. Expiration dates can be associated with the messages such that messages can be deleted once expired.

Abstract: An advertisement display system and method of advertising has an initial step of loading a graphic advertisement onto a mobile computer-readable medium of a mobile device. The graphic advertisement has a time passage indicator for indicating the passage of time. An idle-time sensor determines an idle-time period in which updated application information cannot be presented on a display of the mobile device due to data processing activity by the processor, data transfer activity, congestion or latency in the wireless network, or any other activity that occupies resources in the mobile device to prevent the updating of the display. The graphic advertisement is displayed when the mobile device is in the idle-time period, animated to indicate the passage of time, and removed once the idle-time period has ended.

Abstract: The current invention is a system for providing directory assistance service in which a user sends a request to the system and the system will, based on the request, return advertisements, which may be in a visible or audible form. The advertisements are selected from a databank, which may include any number advertisements categorized within the category associated with the service, according to selection criteria. After the advertising announcement is completed, the directory assistance call is processed as usual.

Abstract: Advertising referral methods and systems allow a first user to refer advertisements of interest to other users, taking advantage of pre-existing social networks. A referral server may coordinate a referral by either receiving a referral message from the first user for forwarding to another user, or by receiving notification of the referral message. Information about the referral may be stored in a database. If another user accesses the referred advertisement, additional information may be received by the referral server and stored in the database. The first user may be credited with inducements based on the referred advertisement and whether or not another user accessed it.

Abstract: An opt-out request in one example is received from a calling party to avoid employment of a specialized ringback tone on one or more subsequent calls from the calling party to a called party. A ringback tone call controller determines, based on the opt-out request, to provide a substitute tone to the calling party in place of the specialized ringback tone on the one or more subsequent calls from the calling party to the called party. After receiving the opt-out request on a call, the specialized ringback tone in a further example is stopped for a remainder of a ringing phase of the call. If a ringback tone service state associated with the calling party is an opt-out state, then in one example the calling party makes an opt-in request to allow use of the specialized ringback tone on one or more subsequent calls to the called party.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for specifying and obtaining services through audio commands, resulting in a live conversation between a user and a selected service provider using an audio-transmission medium (the telephone). A service seeker locates a service provider by entering a keypad code corresponding to a field of service or by speaking the name of a profession, which is recognized by the system. The seeker can then specify, via voice or keypad entry, a price range, quality rating, language, and keyword descriptors of the service provider, such as a service provider code number. In response, the system offers currently available service providers. Once an available service provider is selected, the system connects the service seeker with the service provider for a live conversation. The system bills the seeker for the time spent conversing with the service provider and compensates the service provider accordingly.

Abstract: A method for operating a directory assistance process adapted to provide a targeted message to incoming callers totally or substantially free of one or more 411-type directory assistance calling charges. The method includes receiving a phone call from an incoming caller and receiving a voice based request for information associated with directory assistance from the caller. The method also includes determining phone number information in response to the request through one or more first databases and identifying a phone number associated with the incoming caller using a caller identification process. The method further includes querying at least one database to ascertain a match between the phone number associated with the incoming caller and at least one of a plurality of identifiers in the at least one database, determining at least one message, transmitting the determined message to the incoming caller, and transmitting the phone number information to the incoming caller.
