Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for generating a charge ID in Internet ONLY service, generating the charge ID that includes printable characters using a call ID in the IP gateway; the process is simple and resulted charge ID is absolutely unique. Wherein including: configuring the charge ID including 32 printable characters, each of which is represented with 4 binary bits; taking the call ID including 16 characters, each of which is represented with 8 binary bits; corresponding each call ID character with two charge ID characters, wherein the upper four from eight bits of one of the call ID characters referring to 4 binary bits of one of the charge ID characters, the lower four bits corresponding to 4 binary bits of another charge ID character. Because the scope represented by four binary bits is from 0 to 15, the charge ID characters can exactly correspond one by one relationship with printable characters of 0-9 and A-F.

  • Patent number: 6751441
Abstract: A premises, connected to receive broadband service(s) and also connected to a cable system, is provided with a broadband interface which connects to in-premises cabling which is coupled to consumer receivers such as a television sets, PDAs, laptops. Connected to the broadband interface is an adjunct device which channels broadband, data and voice signals supplied to an in-premises wireless system as distinguished from the signals supplied to the cable connected consumer receivers. The adjunct device formats the broadband and voice signals or any broadband service into packet format suitable for signal radiation and couples them to the in-premises coax cabling, via a diplexer, at a first selected location. At a second cable location a second diplexer, connected to the cable, separates the broadband, data and voice signals and couples them to a signal radiation device (i.e., an RF antenna or leaky coaxial cable) which radiates the signal to the immediate surrounding location.

  • Patent number: 6636587
Abstract: When a sender sends a transmission message to a receiver by use of a communication appliance such as telephone, portable telephone, facsimile or electronic mail, the transmission massage is temporarily received by a computer-telephony integration (CTI) server. The CTI server makes reference to a user contact table to thereby specify a contact point of the receiver at present and the kind of a communication appliance capable of being used by the receiver which are registered in advance in the user contact table. Then, the CTI server sends the transmission message to the receiver after automatic media conversion in accordance with the communication appliance and reception condition which are allowed for the receiver to use. A reception condition requested by the sender may be reflected in a part of the reception condition of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 6584188
Abstract: An intelligent telephone set is disclosed that includes a caller-ID circuit that extracts a call identifier from an incoming call. A call processing circuit in communication with the caller-ID circuit assigns the incoming call to a caller category associated with the call identifier. Subsequently, it selects a call processing action corresponding to the caller category and processes the incoming call using the selected call processing action. The intelligent telephone set allows users to set criteria for receiving and processing calls based on CID data. One such call processing action is to use CID data to forward an incoming call to a predetermined location.

  • Patent number: 6570971
Abstract: A system (100) and method deliver audible caller identification information when standard Caller ID information can not be provided. A calling party is prompted by an announcement to provide the audible caller identification information. The announcement may be tailored by changing the language of the announcement, for example, to conform to the majority of calls received by the called party. A special designator may be stored in association with account information when the service is ordered. The designator is read before the announcement is played to the calling party. The audible caller identification information is recorded and played to the called party in a message. The message may be tailored by changing the language or format of the announcement.

  • Patent number: 6560317
Abstract: A central office (CO) for a telephone connected with a telecommunication device for the deaf (TDD) called by a calling device determines that the called TDD is connected with the called CO. The called CO postpones indication that the called TDD has connected with the called CO, until the called CO determines whether the called TDD is willing to connect with the calling device. This causes the calling device to continue to receive an indication that a connection has yet to be established between the calling device and the called TDD. As a result of being connected with the telephone connected with the TDD, the called CO transmits caller identification (CID) information regarding the calling device in a format that can be received by a TDD.

  • Patent number: 6553061
Abstract: A device for detecting a predetermined waveform in a received signal and synchronizing the detected waveform to the predetermined waveform is disclosed. The device includes a memory element for storing a reference set of encoded values. The reference set representing an encoded version of the predetermined waveform. An encoder is used to PCM encode the signal to obtain sets of encoded values representing the received signal. A processor calculates the statistical correlation coefficient of the reference set and the signal sets. The processor then determines the maximum statistical correlation coefficient. The predetermined waveform is detected in the signal if the maximum statistical correlation coefficient is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold value. The device provides a compact, inexpensive, and fast method for detecting a known reference waveform in a received signal.

  • Patent number: 6510215
Abstract: Caller ID (CID) data-reporting circuitry operates in conjunction with direct-access arrangement (DAA) circuitry or other circuitry that operates within the operational requirements of the Audio Codec '97 (AC-97) Component Specification. The CID data-reporting circuitry provides for the transfer of a data word from the DAA circuitry to a host computer or controller that operates within the AC-97 operational specifications. The CID data-reporting circuitry transfers the CID data in an asynchronous manner, i.e., at non-pre-determined intervals. Software running on the host computer or the controller may thus examine each data word or group of data words and take appropriate action, for example, process the data further or terminate the data transfer. A command interpreter begins the data transfer by initializing an address pointer used to facilitate retrieving the data from a CID random-access memory (RAM) and to make the data available to the host computer or controller through an output register.

Abstract: A method and system for customizing caller ID information can be used in a call center or other telephony system to present customized caller ID information to a called party independent of the telephone line from which the call is made in the call center. The system retrieves at least one call record including a telephone number to be called and a customized caller ID telephone number associated with the call record. The number to be called and customized caller ID number are placed in a setup message formatted using an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) protocol. The setup message is sent to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to establish a telephonic connection with the called party. If the called party subscribes to the caller ID service, the customized caller ID telephone number and any associated information will be presented to the called party.
