Alternate Routing Patents (Class 379/273)
  • Patent number: 9384161
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for facilitating data throughput improvements in interconnect fabrics employing point-to-point links using dynamically selectable routing. Initiators and targets are operatively coupled to first and second fabrics. The first and second fabrics include multiple point-to-point internal links and are communicatively coupled to one another via multiple fabric-to-fabric links, including first and second links from the first fabric to the second fabric. During operations, traffic on the first fabric-to-fabric link is detected to determine if it is busy, and depending on the determination, data transfers from an initiator coupled to the first fabric destined for a target coupled to the second fabric are selectively routed via either the first or second fabric-to-fabric links.

  • Patent number: 8953771
Abstract: The present application provides an authentication scheme that allows a device to provide additional authentication of a Publicly Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) identity assertion made in a PSTN call by also sending an Internet Protocol (IP) communication. The device sends the IP communication generally in parallel with the PSTN call. The IP communication includes a network identity assertion, which optionally may be authenticated using a cryptographically secure technique. The network identity assertion, being more difficult to falsify, provides additional authentication of the PSTN identity assertion.

  • Patent number: 8750484
Abstract: A telecommunications system is disclosed that enables a telecommunications switch to be “user” programmable in the “field”—in contrast to only programmable by the manufacturer or third-party software company—with audio samples. Each audio sample is exemplar of a sound that might be encountered during or after the establishment of a telecommunications call that is handled by the telecommunications switch. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment, the audio samples are received by the telecommunications switch through one or more of the same ports that the telecommunications switch uses to route calls, in contrast to programs and program data that are received by the telecommunications switch through a programming port.

  • Patent number: 8625582
Abstract: A communication system is provided that routes a bearer path of a communication session between an originating Node B and a terminating Node B via an X2 interface, bypassing an IMS core network, while continuing to route the signaling path to an IMS network, thereby allowing the IMS network to retain control of the bearer path while avoiding delay, potential for data loss and jitter to the bearer stream, and additional backhaul capacity requirements that result from routing the bearer path between the originating and terminating Node Bs via the IMS core network. In determining whether the bearer path may bypass the IMS core network, the communication system determines whether IMS core network bearer associated services are required for the communication session such that a bearer path of the call will need to be routed to the IMS core network in order to provide such services.

  • Patent number: 8160234
Abstract: A technique is disclosed that optimizes the background noise experienced by a party who is calling into a call center. Working as part of an overall call-assignment algorithm, the technique considers the acoustic noise that is present in the vicinities of multiple call-center agents who are otherwise satisfactory candidates to handle a call. The technique then selects an agent to handle the call who is associated with an optimal acoustic noise. Typically, the selected agent is associated with lowest background noise level. The background noise is monitored at each call agent's station by evaluating the signals that are present at the agent's microphone. Usually, this is done when a call agent is between calls and, as a result, is not using her headset at that moment. In other words, the background noise is actually measured, and the measurements are then used to assign a call agent to the incoming call.

Abstract: A method and system is provided wherein routing information is obtained from previously cached information or from a gatekeeper. An originating gateway in a network receives a request for a connection and determines whether pertinent routing information is cached. If available, the cached routing is used to attempt to establish a connection. If no previously established routing is available, the originating gateway requests preferred routing from a gatekeeper, including prioritized selections of terminating gateways through which to make a connection to a designated call recipient.

  • Patent number: 6980638
Abstract: A failsafe configuration for alternative network telephony is disclosed. An indication as to whether an alternative network telephony call processing system is available to process calls from an associated piece of telephone equipment is received automatically and transparently to a user of the telephone equipment. Calls placed from the telephone equipment at a time when the alternative network telephony call processing system is available to process calls are processed via alternative network telephony. Calls placed from the telephone equipment at a time when the alternative network telephony call processing system is not available to process calls are processed via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

  • Patent number: 6975717
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for selective processing of calls using alternative network telephony. Called party data is received indicating a destination to which a calling party using a local telephone equipment desires to place a call. It is determined transparently to the calling party whether the called party data satisfies a first criteria for completing calls via alternative network telephony. The call is completed using alternative network telephony if it is determined that the called party data satisfies the first criteria. The call is completed via the public switched telephone network (PSTN) if it is determined that the called party data does not satisfy the first criteria.

  • Patent number: 6956858
Abstract: A routing table circuit for a router has one or more input ports and output ports for message communication. In the routing table circuit, one or more routing table memories store a plurality of routing table arrays. The routing table arrays are arranged hierarchically in levels, and each routing table array is associated with a predetermined subset of prefixes. Each routing table array has entries. The entries include a block default route pointer field to store a block default route pointer, if any, and a routing field. The route engine may access any level of table array by using a next level route pointer stored in the routing field. Using the block default route and the routing field, the present invention further reduces the number of memory accesses and the update cost for route insertion and deletion by identifying and skipping elements that do not require route updating.

  • Patent number: 6816585
Abstract: A method for routing of incoming prioritized telecommunication traffic in a telecommunication network by applying an algorithm of finding optimal path to an augmented graph built for said telecommunication network. The telecommunication network is represented as a network graph comprising nodes (A, B, C, D, E) and real links (AB, BC, CD, ED, AE) bridging the nodes, while the augmented graph is a graph built on the basis of the network graph by adding to it virtual links (ABC1, . . . , EDC3). The augmented graph comprises nodes and edges, wherein the edges of the augmented graph are weighed to reflect priority of the telecommunication traffic presently taking place there-through. For placing a new call according to the method, a pathfinder optimization algorithm is applied to the augmented graph to determine an optimal pathfinder solution, having the minimal total weight, for routing the new call in the augmented graph.

Abstract: There is provided a remote digital terminal (RDT) which connects digital lines extended from integrated digital terminals(IDTs) with subscriber lines extended from subscribers accommodated in the integrated digital terminals comprising: first means for cross-connecting the digital lines and logic digital lines which are for identifying the digital lines on each of the integrated digital terminals; second means for cross-connecting the subscriber lines and logic subscriber lines which are for identifying the subscriber lines on each of the integrated digital terminals; and third means for cross-connecting the logic digital lines and the logic subscriber lines on each of the integrated digital terminals. Accordingly, the digital lines connected to each of the IDTs can be identified by the first means, and an arbitrary subscriber line can be allocated for an arbitrary logical subscriber by the second means.
