Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for querying and recovering circuit group state in a switching system. A self station searches processors including circuit groups which are allocated to a certain route, and requests circuit group state from the searched processors successively. The processors receiving the request identify whether or not a corresponding circuit is allocated to the certain route by reviewing all circuits included in the processors. In addition, the processor groups circuits which are successively allocated among the circuits allocated to the certain route, and queries state of the circuits by generating one CQM per group. When the query process is completed by the processors, the self station reports results of the circuit group state query to an operator. Therefore, the operator can query the states of circuit groups as a route unit in the self station.

  • Patent number: 6363498
Abstract: Computer-controlled switching systems, such as telephone switching systems, like the No. 4ESS™, are extremely complex. Such systems routinely require millions of bytes of program instruction and millions of bytes of data to function. When a system is lost, or is rendered inoperative, reassigning the tasks of the system to a backup or replacing the system can be simplified if a backup copy of the program and data is available. Automatically performing the tasks under program control greatly reduces the complexity of the tasks and improves system reliability. Automatic backup of complex system software and data files is accomplished under program control which periodically directs a switching system to copy its files onto a remotely located administration computer from which the backed up information can be retrieved in the event of a system failure.

Abstract: A switch (10) for controlling the switching of communication paths in communication equipment, such as telephone networks, is connected to a plurality of controllers (11, 12, 13) via a divider unit (14). The divider unit (14) divides some or all of the resources of the switch (10) into a plurality of switch resource sets, and those switch resource sets are then associated with respective ones of the controllers (11, 12, 13). This has the effect of enabling each switch resource set to act as an independent sub-switch, with each controller (11, 12, 13) then controlling a corresponding sub-switch. This division of the resources of the switch (10) allows different control architectures to be operated simultaneously. This permits different virtual networks to be constituted on the same physical network. • Patent number: 5974134
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for managing call resources, which can contribute to an improvement in the performance and stability of systems to which the method and apparatus are applied. Call processors are connected to a shared library via a resource manager which is internally provided with a resource management table for storing permanent processor ID numbers of the call processors and resource allocation information. The call manager controls access to the shared library in association with requests of the call processors for an allocation or release of the resources in such a manner that the access is given for only the stored permanent process ID's. When a request is made to release call resources currently in use, the call manager determines whether or not the process ID of a call process associated with the request for the release coincides with the process ID of the call process currently using the stored call resources.

  • Patent number: 5946386
Abstract: A Call Management System provides for management of calls directly by system users at their workstation computers via a digital data network such as a digital networks not controlled via the user's telephone instruments as in prior systems. A call management computer intercepts incoming calls and controls the handling of such calls according to instructions received from the users' workstations, which are accessed via the digital data network. Trunk circuits are monitored and controlled using digital signal processors to proactively identify the called party, the calling party and the call type (voice, Fax, data) and control and to monitor all calls. Each different type of call is managed differently and automatically through direct user workstation controls and/or user-generated rules to provide special treatment for designated callers. Multiple calls to user at the same time may be handled with no busy signals to callers. Only one number is needed for a user to receive voice Fax and data calls.

  • Patent number: 5887058
Abstract: A telecommunications switch (12) includes a dial plan database (300) used for creating, identifying, and verifying dial plan codes and dialing sequences of a desire dial plan (100). The dial plan (100) is created through a craft terminal (201) that communicates with a craft interface (200) of the telecommunications switch (12). The telecommunications switch (12) uses dial plans created and stored within the dial plan database (300) in performing a digit parsing routine. The digit parsing routine identifies dial plan codes and dialing sequences through digit collection by systematically eliminating possible dial plan codes until one is identified. The identified dial plan code is processed by performing valid or error actions associated with the identified dial plan code. The digit parsing routine continues with an incoming call until it has been appropriately handled and awaits for the next incoming call digits to be received.

  • Patent number: 5784451
Abstract: A system and process for accepting, assigning, and delivering telephony communications data between computer telephony integration clients and stored program control point applications through a server-based virtual circuit management system. The virtual circuit management system includes an I/O Vector object array. Objects instantiate uniquely with logical identification properties, telephony data and a vector for data delivery to either clients or applications. The logical identification allows data managed by the virtual circuit management system to be persistent in both the source and destination systems. In this process, bytes of data are read into the object array from the server's operating system's input/output process. Object instances are created within the Vector object array through a process based upon the properties inherited from the data written from the I/O system.

  • Patent number: 5568543
Abstract: A stored-program-controlled local telephone exchange in which internal connections and conference connections are treated as though they were both a combination of an external connection, namely an originating connection and a terminating connection. This is achieved by providing a virtual route, which is realized by records in a computer memory and which is linked to a call handler and which, from the aspect of the call handler, behaves as a conventional trunk terminal. Alternatively, the virtual route can be replaced with two hardware implemented digital trunk terminals which are mutually connected by a physical wire connection. In the case of a conference connection, the conference equipment is connected to a hardware implemented digital trunk terminal which coacts with the virtual route.
