  • Patent number: 7059776
Abstract: An angular ball bearing is provided which can suppress runout of a retainer during high-speed rotation. A retainer of a synthetic resin is mounted between an outer ring and an inner ring, and balls are housed in pockets formed in the retainer. The pockets are cylindrical. Conical guide surfaces are formed on the cylindrical inner surface of each pocket at its inner-diameter end in the circumferential direction of the retainer. The radius of curvature of the conical guide surfaces at the large diameter ends thereof is greater than the radius of curvature of the cylindrical inner surfaces, thereby preventing the contact points between the balls and the conical guide surfaces from becoming markedly displaced in the diametric direction during high-speed rotation, and thus suppressing runout of the retainer.

  • Patent number: 7008115
Abstract: A film composed of grease, or a film composed of a thickener for grease, is formed on a portion of the surface of each of components constituting a bearing, the portion being opposed to a polymeric lubricant, whereby sliding frictional resistance between the bearing components and the polymeric lubricant is reduced. In the formation of the film, the assembled bearing in which the film has not yet been formed is immersed into a liquid which is obtained by diluting the grease or the thickener for grease with a solvent, and the solvent is then dried, thereby to highly reproducibly form the film of uniform thickness. In an assembled double-row self-aligning roller bearing wherein an outer race is swingable in a direction perpendicular to the center axis of the bearing, raw materials of a polymeric lubricant are poured into and solidified in two regions of an annular space between the inner and outer races.

Abstract: In the circular ring forming the retainer, there is formed a groove for connecting together one end surface of the circular ring (grease placement surface for grease) and a pocket surface. The width of the groove is set such that, on the circumferential direction of the circular ring, it becomes continuously narrower from the far side of the pocket surface toward the near side thereof and, on the depth direction from the placement surface (in the axial direction of the circular ring), it becomes continuously narrower as the depth of the groove increases. In the pawl portion of a pocket, there is formed a cut portion which is continuous with the groove. Along the outer periphery of the circular ring, there is formed a wall portion which projects out from the end surface.

Abstract: A retainer for rolling bearings is made from a phenol resin in which graphite and cotton fabric chips are mixed, and an inner circumferential surface and side surfaces other than inner circumferential surfaces of the pockets of the retainer are made of a skin layer. Therefore, the strength can be ensured with this skin layer, while the skin layer is absent in the inner crcumferential surfaces of the pockets serving as sliding surfaces, allowing the graphite and the cotton fabric chips to be exposed, so that the lubricating performance can be ensured. Thus, a retainer for rolling bearings, as well as a manufacturing method therefor, which allows lubricating performance and strength to be ensured at the same time can be provided.

  • Patent number: RE36804
Abstract: There is provided a bearing sealing device capable of substantially completely preventing a leak of grease. A taper end portion of an axial extension of the bearing sealing device has an opposite surface and a rake face that forms a specified rake angle with the opposite surface. The opposite surface forms a narrow passage between the opposite surface and an outer peripheral surface of an inner ring. The narrow passage allows air to pass easily, but it allows grease to hardly pass therethrough. Further, the axial extension includes part of a core metal that extends axially and has its foremost end located axially inside an axial outermost end of the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring. Grease moving axially outwardly on the outer peripheral surface is moved along the rake face of the taper end portion and then guided along a cover portion of the bearing sealing device to an outer ring. The part of the core metal prevents the axial extension from being bent radially outwardly by a centrifugal force.
