  • Patent number: 11661098
Abstract: A fixed bearing for a steering gear includes a bearing sleeve, and ball bearing having an inner bearing shell and outer bearing shell. The inner shell is configured to hold a pinion shaft of the steering gear. The outer shell is held in the sleeve. Each shell respectively has at least one guide groove to hold and guide bearing balls, and a pivot ring with an outer ring and inner ring pivotably connected via at least one torsion web. The inner ring is connected to the sleeve. The outer ring is configured to mount the fixed bearing in a steering gear housing. At least one shell is formed from partial shells, each partial shell defining at least a portion of the respective guide groove. The multi-part design enables relatively large guide groove shoulders and a correspondingly relatively high ball bearing load-bearing capacity even under a relatively high tilting load during steering gear operation.

Abstract: In an aluminum turbocharger bearing housing, there is a potential for wear of the bearing housing at the interface with the turbine housing and/or the bearing system. One area of potential concern is the interface between the flange of the bearing housing and an abutment of the turbine housing. With a protective element at the interface, the potential for wear, and thus misalignment of the rotating assembly with the housings in which they operate can be mitigated. The protective element can be a cap for the bearing housing flange or a heat shield adapted to cover certain faces of the bearing housing flange. The protective element can be a sleeve provided within a bore in the bearing housing. Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of an anti-friction bearing element (1) comprising a carrier metal which forms a back bearing side and a bearing metal, wherein the carrier metal is made from a bronze-based alloy. The bearing metal is also made from a bronze-based alloy, wherein the hardness of said bronze-based alloy is reduced at least in some areas by heat treatment, so that in the radial direction of the anti-friction bearing a hardness gradient is formed with increasing hardness in the direction of the back side (7) of the anti-friction bearing element (1).

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a rolling bearing which can be used in conditions in which a DN value is not less than 1,500,000 and an operating temperature is not less than 200° C. and which can be securely operated for a sufficiently long period of time without seizing, even though the rolling bearing is used in a dry run state and a cage for the rolling bearing. A cage (1) is formed by molding a carbon fiber composite material composed of a matrix consisting of a high-molecular compound reinforced with a carbon fiber material. The carbon fiber material consists of a bundle of 1000 to 5000 monofilaments, a woven cloth or a unidirectional material consisting of the bundle of the monofilaments. The high-molecular compound is polyimide resin or the like whose glass transition temperature is not less than 200° C. after the high-molecular compound thermally hardens.

Abstract: A radial bearing having a wear surface with improved wear characteristics comprises a steel support, to which is bonded a metal carbide composite wear surface made by first arranging, within a cavity defined between a steel mold and the steel support, tiles made of microwave sintered, cemented metal carbide, closely packing the voids between the tiles with metal carbide powder, and infiltrating the mold cavity with a metal brazing alloy by subjecting the filled mold to rapid heating. The brazing alloy fills voids between the metal carbide particles, the microwave sintered metal carbide tiles, and the metal support, thereby relatively rapidly consolidating the carbide into a wear layer bonded with the steel support without substantially damaging the properties of the microwave-sintered metal carbide tiles.

Abstract: A flanged bearing ring is made up of two different materials joined together as a single piece, namely a radially inner annular insert and a flanged, radially outer lightweight body formed around the insert. The insert forms one or more raceways and is made of a hard material, such as bearing steel. The outer body is made of a lightweight material, such as aluminium alloy, with a higher thermal expansion coefficient higher than that of the hard material which the inner insert is made of. A relief formed by the insert extends into a groove of the outer body. Another relief, formed by the outer body, extends into a further groove of the insert. These reliefs and grooves interlock the insert and the outer body together against relative movement under all temperature conditions.
