Patent number: 5607240Abstract: There is provided a bearing sealing device capable of substantially completely preventing a leak of grease. A taper end portion of an axial extension of the bearing sealing device has an opposite surface and a rake face that forms a specified rake angle with the opposite surface. The opposite surface forms a narrow passage between the opposite surface and an outer peripheral surface of an inner ring. The narrow passage allows air to pass easily, but it allows grease to hardly pass therethrough. Further, the axial extension includes part of a core metal that extends axially and has its foremost end located axially inside an axial outermost end of the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring. Grease moving axially outwardly on the outer peripheral surface is moved along the rake face of the taper end portion and then guided along a cover portion of the bearing sealing device to an outer ring. The part of the core metal prevents the axial extension from being bent radially outwardly by a centrifugal force.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1996Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: Koyo Seiko Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhisa Kajihara, Masatosi Taniyama, Kunio Yanai, Hiroshi Ueno

Patent number: 5494173Abstract: A vibrating screen apparatus capable of maintaining operation when in an out-of-level orientation is disclosed. The apparatus includes a generally rigid frame having first and second sidewalls and top and bottom screen decks extending therebetween. The frame is coupled to a stationary chassis or base by spring mount assemblies that each include an adjustable spring support system coupled to the frame and heavy coil springs which are positioned between the adjustable spring support system and the stationary base. Four rubber shear spring assemblies are also coupled between the stationary base and the sidewalls. The rubber shear spring assemblies help prevent shifting of the frame relative to the base if an out-of-level condition occurs and also help reduce lateral forces applied to the coil springs caused during out-of-level conditions. The apparatus further includes eccentric drive and driven shafts that are rotatably supported by spherical roller bearings.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1994Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: Deister Machine Co., Inc.Inventors: E. Patent number: 5238166Abstract: A sealing assembly for regulating the flow of lubricant to a rotating shaft and to the bearings which support it. The shaft is supported on rolling-contact bearings to which are coupled bearing collars. The bearing collars serve as spray-off edges for removing lubricant from the bearings, which after removal, is received in a groove formed between the bearing and a seal member. This groove is in liquid communication with an opening to the surface of the shaft which, as it rotates, centrifuges lubricant from the groove. The shaft is encircled by the seal member which includes several chambers for receiving lubricant sprayed off the shaft at several spray-off edges. At the end of the seal member furthest from the rolling-contact bearings an outlet for the lubricant of the same size as the inlet is provided, thereby reducing pressure differences between the inlet and the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1992Date of Patent: August 24, 1993Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Egbert Schwarstein, Helmut Holzel

Patent number: 4763904Abstract: An auxiliary sealing system generally includes a flexible sealing ring, with an optional restraining element, such as a metal band, secured therearound for further fastening same to a given circular member. Such circular member may comprise an extension of the inner race of a bearing assembly secured to a shaft by a plurality of set screw arrangements radially disposed about such inner race extension. The auxiliary seal may be provided with radial holes in the circumference thereof for selective alignment with such set screws to provide access thereto. After the set screws are tightened, the auxiliary seal may be rotated and clamped to the given circular member to thereby protect the set screws from contamination.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1986Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Assignee: Reliance Electric CompanyInventor: Howard W. Patent number: 4743034Abstract: A sealing device employing interfitting relatively rotatable rings, namely a stator and a rotor disposed for cooperation between a housing and a rotatable shaft. The stator is nonrotatably and sealingly engaged within an opening formed in the housing. An elastomeric O-ring maintains a seal between the stator and housing. The rotor snugly surrounds and is nonrotatably carried with the shaft and is provided with elastomeric seal ring therebetween to prevent leakage along the shaft. The stator closely externally surrounds the rotor to define a complex pathway therebetween which inhibits flow of liquids or contaminants in either direction therethrough. This pathway includes a pair of annular collecting chambers disposed in axially spaced relationship, whereby the outer chamber collects and discharges to the environment any contaminants which enter from the environment, and the inner chamber collects and discharges back to the reservoir any lubricant or fluid which enters into the pathway from its inner end.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1987Date of Patent: May 10, 1988Assignee: Durametallic CorporationInventors: Kenneth G. Patent number: 4630458Abstract: A bearing isolator assembly particularly for use in a roll mill for isolating the environment from the support shaft bearing. A first isolator ring is non-rotatably mounted on the shaft and is concentric with and rotatable relative to a pair of fixed isolator rings which concentrically surround the shaft and are fixed to a support housing. These isolator rings defines therebetween a narrow clearance space which defines a tortuous path which initially includes a U-shaped labyrinth, one end of which communicates with the environment, and the other end of which communicates with an enlarged annular collection chamber which has a drain port associated therewith. This collection chamber is behind a dam associated with the rotatable isolator ring, and the downstream side of the dam is positioned closely adjacent a radial wall on the fixed isolator ring to define a narrow passage therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1985Date of Patent: December 23, 1986Assignee: Durametallic CorporationInventor: Kenneth G.
