Axially Biased Race Or Roller Patents (Class 384/563)
  • Patent number: 11702124
Abstract: A motor adjustment drive for a vehicle steering column includes a threaded spindle with an axis. The threaded spindle engages a spindle nut. A drive unit and a gear wheel which is connected to the spindle nut or the threaded spindle for rotation therewith is driveable to rotate by the drive unit and is rotatably mounted in a bearing housing between two outer bearing rings that are axially supported at the bearing housing. The outer bearing rings each have, on their sides facing one another, a circumferential outer bearing face that is coaxial to the axis. Each outer bearing face lays opposite a bearing face embodied on the end side at the gear wheel. An outer bearing ring is axially resiliently supported at the bearing housing via an elastic element, which exerts an axial force that biases the two outer bearing rings toward each other.

  • Patent number: 8104972
Abstract: A number of machines such as gas turbine engines have asymmetric axial loading along a shaft (2, 3, 4). In order to accommodate for this asymmetric loading, known as an end bearing load, a load share bearing (103) is typically provided. However, specifying the fixed bearing (11, 12) becomes increasingly difficult as space and weight considerations are taken into account. In such circumstances providing a combination of a fixed bearing (11, 12) and a load share bearing (103) to achieve an acceptable bearing end load capacity is more acceptable. The proportion of the combination provided respectively by the fixed bearing and the load share bearing can be varied dependent upon operational stage in order to achieve more efficient operation.

Abstract: A roller cage for a rolling bearing, particularly a double roller cage for a cylinder rolling bearing, which has a ring web with axially extending webs. Every two adjacent webs delimit a receptacle pocket for a rolling element, with a floor thereof being formed by the ring web. Each web has a radial outer and inner base side connected to each other by an axial outer face side. The face side of the radial outer base side is tapered toward the radial inner base side. To increase the rigidity of the webs with regard to trouble-free removal and installation of the rolling bearing, the radial inner base side is trapezoidal such that a web width of the radial inner base side increases from the face side to the floor of the receptacle pocket.

  • Patent number: 7997804
Abstract: A rolling bearing apparatus includes inner and outer rings in which a preload applying unit applies a preload to the outer ring. If a fluid pressure in a fluid supply passage is higher than a first set pressure, then fluid is supplied to a pressure chamber via a check valve, and if a pressure becomes lower than the first set pressure, then fluid is supplied from a hydraulic pump to the pressure chamber via the check valve. If the pressure becomes higher than a second set pressure, then the fluid is discharged from the pressure chamber via a relief valve, and if the pressure within the pressure chamber becomes higher than a third set pressure, which is higher than the first set pressure but is lower than the second set pressure, then the supply of fluid is stopped. Thus, the pressure within the pressure chamber is maintained between the first and second set pressures.
