Barrel-, Can- Or Round Box-carried Indicia Patents (Class 40/306)
  • Patent number: 5639529
Abstract: An easily removable label for use in connection with a container to be recycled (e.g. bottle or can). The label has first and second faces. Indicia is provided on the first face and a coating of repositionable adhesive is applied to the second face. The label is also provided with leading and trailing edges which cooperate to form an overlapping area with permanent adhesive which secures one face of the label to the other while at the same time precluding contact of the permanent adhesive with the container. The label may be provided with a perforation line adjacent the overlapping area so that the label may be conveniently separated from the container. The face of the label may be coated with permanent pressure sensitive adhesive release material, and a number of labels provided in a pad. The label provides a lasting adhesion between the container and the label but yet will not leave any significant residue of permanent adhesive once the label is removed.

  • Patent number: 5575096
Abstract: A sleeve for placement around a container utilizes a single continuous sheet of plastic which is folded into an enclosed shape having a front side, a back side and an overlapping section extending over the front side to form a sleeve body. This enclosed shape is held together by welds formed through adjacent edges of the front and back sides and the overlapping section. At least one precut is formed in the overlapping section. This precut extends parallel to the welds to allow for detachment of a portion of the overlapping section such that the front side is visible. Information can be printed both on the overlapping section and on the front and back sides, so that the sleeve of the invention has a larger surface area for printing than conventional sleeves which include only front and back portions.

A semi-circular snap-out section, defined by a series of spaced-apart slits, is located below the game information area of the lip but spaced therefrom. To reveal the printed game information, a finger is pushed in against the snap-out section to break it away from the remainder of the cup sidewall. The snap-out section is then pulled upwardly tearing a portion of the sidewall away up to the lip, and then the snap-out section and torn portion are moved or rotated around the rolled lip so as to unroll the rolled lip and reveal the printed game information.

Abstract: An improved label is disclosed comprising two semi-rigid cards connected to each other by means of a thin flexible member. Each of the cards has an adhesive portion covered by a release paper and a non-adhesive portion. One end of the flexible member is attached to a respective non-adhesive portion to thereby connect the cards. The adhesive portion and the non-adhesive portion of each card are separable from each other along a perforation which facilitates the disconnection of the cards when desired. The present invention finds particular application and advantage with laboratory specimen containers. In use, one card is adhesively secured to identifying material, such as a pad of laboratory order slips, and the other card is adhesively secured to a specimen container. The identifying material is thus mechanically attached to the container though in spaced relation thereto by virtue of the flexible interconnecting member.
