Abstract: A label sheet (1) having a release liner (16) and a column of labels (12) releasably adhered thereto is modified to allow easy removal of the labels. The liner has a weakened separation line (30) formed by cuts and ties running underneath a column of labels near the edge of the labels, and notches (18) at the top and bottom of the sheet aligned with the cuts and ties. A matrix (14) surrounding the labels, if present, also has cuts and ties, with the cuts and ties in the matrix parallel to and slightly offset from the cuts and ties in the liner. The separation lines are strong enough that the label sheet can be fed through a printer, yet weak enough that a user can tear off the liner and matrix along the separation lines, thus leaving a minor edge of a column of labels exposed for easy removal from the label sheet.

Abstract: A mounting assembly is provided for securing objects to a substrate in a manner that permits the objects to be removed from the mounting assembly and from the substrate. The mounting assembly includes a planar sheet-like holder with opposite front and rear faces. A repositionable adhesive is applied across the entire rear face of the holder, and the holder is removably disposed on a release liner. A generally U-shaped cut is formed in the holder to define a flap. The flap can be repositionably attached to the object, while remaining portions of the holder can be repositionably secured to a substrate.

Abstract: An optical disc media marketing system used to advertise various products or services to users of optical disc products. The system includes the use of a standard optical disc and a jewel case with a recessed cavity formed therein to receive the optical disc. If the jewel case includes a spindle post, then the system includes either a T-shaped adapter or a cap that temporarily engages or attaches to the post. If the jewel case does not include a spindle post, then a T-shaped adaptor is used that engages the inside edge of the optical disc. The T-shaped adaptor and the cap include a top surface that is slightly larger than the spindle hole thereby preventing removal of the disc from the jewel case or use on an optical disc player. Disposed over the top surface of the adaptor or cap is a stack of adhesive labels.

Abstract: An optical disk of the type rotated by a spindle positioned in a centrally-located hole, and including a disk body including an annular data area, and a centrally-located, integrally-formed annular web positioned radially inward from the annular data area and covering a hole formed in the disk body. The annular web is formed sufficiently thin to be deflected upwardly out of the plane of the disk body by the spindle during placement on the spindle and during rotation. The web may be broken away from the disk, or made sufficiently thin and resilient that it will deform upwardly when placed on the spindle and resume its former position when removed.

Abstract: An optical disc label including a label substrate, a writeable material, and an adhesive. The label substrate is ring-shaped, defines a front side and a back side, and includes a base layer and a phosphorescent material. The phosphorescent material is applied to the base layer and is capable of emitting absorbed energy as light. The writeable material is applied to the front side of the label substrate, and is configured to provide an indicia-receiving surface. The adhesive is applied to the back side of the label substrate. By forming the label as a ring, it can be applied to an optical disc in a manner that maintains necessary radial and/or circumferential balancing. Further, the phosphorescent material imparts a unique glow-in-the-dark property. In one preferred embodiment, the writeable material is configured to receive and maintain an inkjet printer-generated indicia.

Abstract: An index print of photographic images is created on a CD containing digital data representing those images. Photographic images are digitized to produce digital image data which is stored on the CD. This digital image data is also used to create an index print containing thumbnail images of all of the photographs stored on the CD. The index print is then affixed to the top surface of the CD either by being printed on a label that is adhered to the disk surface, or by being printed directly on the surface of the disk.

Abstract: A laminate is provided for both labeling a data disk and creating an envelope for storing thereof. The laminate includes a base sheet having first and second pages joined together at a primary fold line. Flaps extend along corresponding edges of one of the pages at secondary fold lines in a configuration to form a closed envelope when folded together. A patch is laminated to the first page by layers of adhesive and release. The patch or first page includes a circular diecut defining a removable disk label having the adhesive on the back thereof.

Abstract: A decorative disc holder is provided. The disc holder includes a display member and a disc securing mechanism, removably attached to the display member. In one embodiment, the display member is fabric. An example of a suitable fabric is a loop fabric. In one embodiment, the disc securing mechanism includes a hub having a front side and a back side and a hook fastener attached to the back side of the hub.

Abstract: An optical information recording medium production process including a laminated body production step, and any of the following co-adhesion steps: a co-adhesion step including maintaining an inner peripheral face of the cover sheet so as to be at an outer side relative to an inner peripheral face of the substrate, and sticking together the cover sheet and the laminated body; a co-adhesion step including regulating a position of co-adhering using an outer peripheral face of the substrate, and sticking together; a co-adhesion step including placing the cover sheet on a flat table, and sticking together; and a co-adhesion step including, after sticking a cover sheet provided with a release sheet on the laminated body, releasing the release sheet, starting from a protruding portion of the release sheet. Also disclosed is an optical information recording medium produced by any of these processes.

Abstract: A label laminate includes a small sheet laminated to a large sheet in a two-ply lamination, with a portion of the large sheet remaining single ply. The lamination has an exposed front side and an exposed back side. The front side includes an annular disk label in the two-ply lamination, and a rectangular first case insert in the single-ply portion. The back side includes a rectangular second case insert in the two-ply lamination behind the disk label.

Abstract: A label for an optical disk of the type having a hole therethrough for being positioned onto a rotatable spindle by which the optical disk is rotated. The label is formed of a sheet having a size and shape for being positioned on and adhered to the optical disk and overlying the hole. The sheet includes a plurality of slits formed therein for being positioned in registration with the hole in the disk when the label is positioned on the disk and defining between the slits a plurality of adjacent sheet segments for normally residing in the plane of the sheet and being deformable from the plane of the sheet in response to an object being extended into the hole, whereby the plurality of sheet segments can be provided with visual material while not interfering with the utility of the hole in the disk.

Abstract: According to the present invention, six die-cut CD-ROM labels are provided on a sheet in a vertical pattern with labels offset from a scored or perforated centerline of the other three. Each set of three is spaced from the outer edges of the sheet and by folding the sheet in half and removing a corner tab an adhesive edge of one of the labels is exposed which can be applied to a disk manually held on a printed outline of the disk on the back of the sheet, obviating the need for use of any applicator centering device, or holder for the disk, and/or label.

Abstract: A label sheet having at least two labels for a compact disc. The compact disc has a read side and a reverse side with an outer diameter of the readable or writable area of the read side being less than the outer diameter of the disc and having a first inner diameter forming an aperture for the disc and a second inner diameter which is larger than the first forming a step. The labels have a dimension so that an inner diameter of the label forming an aperture or opening in the label is greater than the second internal diameter of the disc, preferably by an amount of 2 mm to 4 mm, and the label has an outer diameter which is less than the outer diameter of the readable or writable area, so that an annular ring of the readable area is visible around the periphery of the label.

Abstract: The method and apparatus of making a bonded disk according to this invention is intended to produce bonded disks in a large number at low cost, wherein a bonding strength is not reduced when the inner bonding surface is recessed for title display, it is not deformed easily when stored or left at a high temperature for a long period of time, at least one disk of the paired one-sided disks is formed with a recess for title display where is connected to the stamper clamp groove, a title consisting of desired letters and patterns is printed with an ink on the recess of the one-sided disk, the bonding surface of at least one disk of the paired one-sided disks is applied with a thermoplastic bonding agent while a liquid type reaction setting bonding agent is applied to the recess and the stamper clamp groove of the one-sided disk, and the paired one-sided disks are stacked to bring their bonding surfaces in contact with each other and press them together to form a single bonded disk.

Abstract: A label for applying to a CD includes a label adhering section and a detachable centering section integral therewith. The centering section is shaped so that the label registers exactly on center on the CD when the outside edge of the centering section abut the inside surfaces of the portable container in which the CD is housed.

Abstract: A cassette (1) includes a housing (3) with two parallel main walls (5, 7), of which one wall has a recessed portion (25). The recessed portion (25) accommodates an element (22) whose picture, or information carrying, side (23) is visible. The element (22) can be fitted int he recessed portion (25) in only one position owing to the provision of offcentered projections (33,35).

Abstract: A clip for use with a CD case is made of a single strip of bent metal to form top and bottom plates that engage the top and bottom surfaces of the ridge of a CD case. A connecting plate is connected between the top and bottom plated and engages against a rear surface of the ridge. An angled flange connected to the leading edge of the top plate engages onto a front surface of the ridge for holding the clip to the ridge. A tab plate extends rearwardly of the connecting plate and is co-planar with the bottom plate to serve as a grasping tab for grasping the case and removing it from a collection of like CD cases which can be stored one immediately next to the other.

Abstract: An improved index marker. The index marker is adapted to be mounted on panel members of differing thickness and to be detachably glued to a panel member. In an alternate embodiment of the invention the index marker is movable between two operative positions when mounted on the edge of a panel member, a first operative position in which the index marker fixedly engages the panel and cannot be removed therefrom, and a second operative position in which the index marker slidably engages and can be removed from the panel member.

Abstract: A phonorecord greeting label, for application to a recording by a consumer, adheres to and overlies the manufacturer's label. The new label has a transparent mounting element and has a message element hingedly mounted thereto. Both faces of the message element are accessible for reading, and the manufacturer's label underneath it can be read.

Abstract: A phonograph record album used to present promotional music and song recordings to professional artists and writers, comprised of a first compartment for holding a phonograph record, and a coplanar second compartment for holding an information card, with the second compartment having serpentine side guide strips for maintaining lateral alignment of the card as it is moved into and out of its compartment, and flat springs attached between the bottom side of the second compartment and the card to prevent complete removal of the card from its compartment. In an alternate embodiment, the album is comprised of a separable information packet for containing the information card.

Abstract: An index tab securable to a phonograph record album, in order to identify, more easily, the record contained therein; the tab being made of transparent, stiff plastic, and including a part coated with adhesive, for attachment to the album and a part that is folded over, so as to make a pocket for a label, the parts being pivotable respective to each other.

Abstract: A container with a receptacle for a record carrier such as a tape cassette is provided with at least one clamping device which is disposed on a wall of the container, by means of which device a graphic carrier, such as a letter, an index strip, a note etc. can be clamped in position in the container. The clamping device comprises a lug which projects into the receptacle for actuation of the device.
